      Well said Pen88n!

Joe0599, your ds has done very well, so have your dw and not forgetting yourself, for your support! You all deserved more than a pat on the shoulders.
Your ds' psle result is the envy of many and pride of many parents. Staying at home to guide the children in a loved environment is the best decision of a mother. The foundation that you have built for the child will keep him going a long way.
      All the best 🙂

        Pen88n:
Joe0599, I think you have to tell your wife that she cannot measure \"success\" just solely by PSLE results. When she spent her years as a SAHM for your DS, it is also quality bonding time, shaping his character, instilling the right values, and coaching beyond the academic aspects.

As parents, we should not impose our expectations on our kids, esp. I see of lot of academic expectations being imposed on Singapore kids. We can work with our kids side by side to assist them to improve, but whatever is the ultimate results they get, we must learn to teach them to be courageous to face reality and move on with life. There are many roads to Rome, and going to the 4 schools is not the only way.

As long as your wife and your DS have both put in their effort and done their best, there should be no regret.
        :goodpost: pen ...

your DW & DS had tried their best. Pls move on…… all good parents give unconditional love to kids……there is still a long way to go after PSLE to Uni…. just continue to build on the bonding and always standby with unconditional love. most critical is to face reality and thrive on to better objectives toward the future

Sorry but I can’t understand why parents still unhappy that their kid got >255+. While we want the best out from our children…We, as parents have to understand the pressure that the child is facing. Not only you are putting pressure on yourself…the child is the one that suffer the most under your expectation. We need to remember this. Good school doesn’t mean your kids will be a top achiever in life.

My personal experience: I’m a normal technical student back in my old schooling days…Now, I’m a master degree holder and hold a much much better job than any express class student.

NUS High OAS Website shows my DS’ Application status pending,

When I inquired NUS Admission office, they mention that they had some info from MOE and the result will be informed only on 21st Dec 2011…I had confirmed that the results of NUS high will not affect S1 Posting.

Do anyone encounter similar experience …

May be I am not good in words that I make my DW sound like a tiger mom but in actual fact she is not. She pushed my DS hard but also give him lots of liberty in doing what he likes eg learning piano, soccer, computer games etc. We are very happy with his result and we just hope that he can go into the IP stream and the school of his choice.

Yes, another 5 days to go…
