can try hanging peacock feather on the wall - will not have lizard
where to buy real peacock feather ? -
I buy the 3M sponges which are suppose to have anti- bacterial property.
Have one sponge for washing dishes and another for cleaning surfaces of the sink and stove.
Utensils containing raw food - wash with dish washing liquid first without using sponge, use hand to wash the utensil containing the raw food, rinse off, then wash as usual with the sponge.
Have a different cutting board and different knife for uncooked food and another for the fruits.
If cut fish, and got fishy smell, use lime or lemon to rub the surfaces of the chopping board and knife to remove the fishy smell, and who knows, hopefully the citric acid may help to kill some germs.
At night, wash the sponge with dish washing liquid and squeeze it dry.
Change the sponge when it gets old and soiled.
Having said all that, and instructed the maid to do so, I don't know whether she follows the instruction, but seems to be okay so far

Change the sponge regularly, eg weekly.

Hi all!
I heard in overseas they use borax to prevent. Can we buy in Singapore?Where can we buy?
Thanks in advance. -
I am not sure about preventing cockroaches. However to get rid of cockcroaches, you can try using the Golden Rooster Brand of Ant and Cockroach Killer available from NTUC. What I do is cut the top of one pellet, stick it near the rubbish chute. What it does is it attracts cockroaches which then eats the poison thereby killing it. It works for me.

Oh! thanks pojo! Its similar to borax method.

If you ensure that your rubbish chute seal is tight, it should keep out the cockroaches. Most of our cockroaches come in from the bathroom floor and sink traps. 15 years ago I began the practice of pouring 3 litres of boiling hot water into every floor and sink trap into the house. No more cockroaches.
We had 3 or 4 cockroaches when we moved into our new apartment in the first 2 weeks. I began the boiling water treatment again and… no more cockroaches.
I think the boiling water gets rid of the scent trails cockroaches use to signal each other that a certain pathway is safe and leads to food. Cockroaches try not to deviate from these paths. The hot water also neutralises the cockroach eggs that get laid in the U-shaped waste pipes.
Borax is a controlled chemical in Singapore… illegal to sell. If you want, you can easily buy this in the laundry department of any supermarket in USA. It is often used to wash clothes in the washing machine. Good luck bringing it in though!! You might get hanged? Kekekekekekeke!! -

Thanks smartmummy for the generous compliment.
We pour boiling water every Saturday night at 9pm. Need to wait till after dark to ensure that cockroaches gather at the entrance of floor trap. Every floor trap and sink hole gets this treatment once a week.
