Erm more about the erratic nature of the dismissal times... Triple science students have 2 days ending at 3.45pm... Might clash with 3rd lang timings too, as was me and my classmate's case. And Band's CCA timings sound really scary! N Air only has one official CCA day on Friday, much to my relief πŸ˜›

I hope my boy matures more in CHS too ... same as yours, sec 1 next year.

        Congratulations.

So you will be going CHS tomorrow?
        You joining PSG?
        Your boy joining Choir?
I was there today with my DS to buy books.

        Thanks all.

Of course my boy not joining choir. LOL. He's in Chinese Orchestra. We'll meet at Aesthetic (performing arts) events. ;D

PSG - we'll see. Usually they don't need us parents in secondary school. I've been volunteering in the library this past year - am thinking to keep doing that this year as I quite enjoy it. So far I've not had any of my secondary school kids' schools requiring parent volunteer help bc the kids themselves generally organize much of the stuff themselves.

          meiah:

If I did not remember wrongly, last year, there wasn't much of an mep briefing. Just some simple slides and that's it, then go find the teacher-in-charge to get a form to submit together with photocopies of practical and theory certs. School general office can photocopy for you but they charge! Then wait for call-up for audition. I waited and waited but no news. In the end, my ds went in without an audition. Some of his friends went for it.

Normally, Mon and Fri dismiss at 1.45pm. Tues to Thurs 2.25pm. Sometimes dismiss later, depends on the teachers. If got CCA, worse! Band has 3 days of practice, usually will dismiss at about 6pm or even later. Other CCAs may have different dismissal times and number of CCA days. To enrol for a CCA also must go for selection/audition. Then you pick 3 choices, provided the CCA also picks you!
Wah, that means today have to bring the certificates also? Urgh. Let me go and find.

The dismissal times are quite normal to me. Meiah, you only experiencing it with your 1st child. ;D Already know these with my 2 older ones, only not in CHS.

My boy wouldn't need to go for CCA selection, I'd think. Already got in Chinese Orchestra.

You are wrong, all will be made to go through all the test of all CCA during the orientation, so that \"no fish will escape the net\" πŸ˜‚

They can recommend your son to have more than 1 CCA, but of course it's your son's choice.

CHS is trying to build the Sec PSG, hopefully as good as the Pri PSG. Do you know JC also has PSG.

I know how Sec school CCA selection is run, lah - JonC. ;D Bc my daughter also went thru last time in SNGS - should be quite similar riffraff . But this particular son DSA to CHS specifically under Chinese Orchestra - got choice for other CCA, meh? Just now, the moment he stepped into school and registered his name, the Aesthetics teacher already accosted him for training. Unless they still make them all go thru' during these 2 weeks' orientation - which would be such a waste of time.

                ahem…

I say "more than 1" lah.

So CO is a must because DSA, plus if got other talent, school will recommend to add on but your can reject lah.

Yeah, probably JC has PSG, but I've not quite heard it being promoted aggressively. I certainly do not help in PSG in my dd's JC. *hehe* Same JC as our CHS' PSG chairperson's eldest boy.

Last time during SYF, I asked JC tr if need help - bc I wanted to go watch(got ulterior motive). Teacher said no need any help bc the students can all handle. And I was given a ticket instead. HAHA.

But the selection is done during school hours in the morning, unless your DS know how to 'snake away'. πŸ˜‚

Ah ok... so I figure it's part of the orientation activities, like during my dd's time. Strangely for her, apart from their trials during orientation, they also had to separately go for CCA trials as well.

Oh well, maybe my ds would find it fun. They certainly won't select him for any sports, I know. haha.
