My boy wouldn't need to go for CCA selection, I'd think. Already got in Chinese Orchestra.

You are wrong, all will be made to go through all the test of all CCA during the orientation, so that \"no fish will escape the net\" ๐Ÿ˜‚

They can recommend your son to have more than 1 CCA, but of course it's your son's choice.

CHS is trying to build the Sec PSG, hopefully as good as the Pri PSG. Do you know JC also has PSG.

I know how Sec school CCA selection is run, lah - JonC. ;D Bc my daughter also went thru last time in SNGS - should be quite similar riffraff . But this particular son DSA to CHS specifically under Chinese Orchestra - got choice for other CCA, meh? Just now, the moment he stepped into school and registered his name, the Aesthetics teacher already accosted him for training. Unless they still make them all go thru' during these 2 weeks' orientation - which would be such a waste of time.

I say "more than 1" lah.

So CO is a must because DSA, plus if got other talent, school will recommend to add on but your can reject lah.

Yeah, probably JC has PSG, but I've not quite heard it being promoted aggressively. I certainly do not help in PSG in my dd's JC. *hehe* Same JC as our CHS' PSG chairperson's eldest boy.

Last time during SYF, I asked JC tr if need help - bc I wanted to go watch(got ulterior motive). Teacher said no need any help bc the students can all handle. And I was given a ticket instead. HAHA.

But the selection is done during school hours in the morning, unless your DS know how to 'snake away'. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Ah ok... so I figure it's part of the orientation activities, like during my dd's time. Strangely for her, apart from their trials during orientation, they also had to separately go for CCA trials as well.

Oh well, maybe my ds would find it fun. They certainly won't select him for any sports, I know. haha.

Orientation should be quite fun. Go see see look look other CCA also not bad what. At least can get a feel. Maybe your ds can even discover another talented side of him. ๐Ÿ˜„

But i felt the 2 week orientation is too long.

                    1 week is probably ideal.

According to the VP, the oreintation grouping are not the same as the class. Just wondering how they group the class then. Bc my ds saw his class indication as S17, so it should be the same as sec 1 Class no 7 or Gโ€ฆ

Oh, he saw a class indication? We didn't see any.

CHS secondary classes go by Sec 1-7, 1-8, etc...

Saw only 330 students on the board. So class size should be quite small?

Oh, the 2-weeks long CHS orientation includes CCA trials and the like + the regimental-style BURST camp facilitated by Outdoor Adventure Leaders (Sec 3s). The purpose of BURST is to allow the students to adapt to the fresh environment and allow them to make new friends, get in-tuned, etc.

And yes, OGs are not the studentโ€™s classes. OGs are drawn out according to alphabetical order.
There should be about 30-35 students per Sec 1 class up till 1-9 (the sports class).
