My son scored exact 247. Did not get posting to ACSI despite it being the first choice and despite 247 being the COP.

sad...
Parsingh, sorry to hear that. So near, yet so far. What is his next school of choice ?
Hi, this is from my last year experience. My DS will b Year 2 IP in 2012. The school never request any purchase of laptop and certainly no spec request. But there are many many projects and assignments that requires use of computer and many group works and presentations even in Year 1. So a laptop (mobile compared to desktop) is a necessity and a good printer too for submission of project reports.

In that case even a net book should suffice right ?
Got one lying idle at home.
Printer probably need to buy one since my HP printer really guzzle ink like crazy.

Yup, a netbook should be good enough but the screen could be too small though.
ngbrdad, you probably do not want to kill his eyesight prematurely with those tiny netbook screens. And instead of inkjets, you can look at laser printers - definitely more bang for the buck for simple printing.

A question regarding school shoes.

The starter kit stated that can be any shoes as long as more than 70% of it is white.
Just like to find out what sort of shoes do the students wear normally ?
Anyone still wear those white canvas shoes from primary school days ?

Most boys do not wear canvas shoes. They usually wear track shoes or jogging shoes. Popular brands are Adidxx , Nikx , Asix etc etc. 70% need to be white and remaining 30% Blue to match with their Blue Bermuda/Pants.

Colour laser printers quite ex right ? especially for the toner.
I was thinking net book lighter so not so heavy to carry but maybe 10\" screen is a bit small.
I guess an extra 500g to carry for a laptop is not too heavy after all.

He applied under S1 posting and did not accept any DSA CO? Then if so, did you appeal already? The other thread says S1 posting boys who got 261 but did not get place in RI via S1 (probably miss by decimals) already appealed successfully these 2 days.

oh thanks. Hope that he did it for his DS.
Btw, ngbrdad, you are one of those I followed through the story since DSA. So all the best to your DS in ACSI which is a good school and I hope he will be the selected few to transfer to ACSI IP or even RI after year 2! Don't miss those window periods. Till then, do share your ACSI stories cos I have a younger DS. Your turn to guide us :please:
