      Hi ..

I realize tt on every Tuesday, sec1 class end at 1.50 pm but 3 rd Lang lesson at MOLEC starts at 2.30 pm. It will be kind of rush for them to have lunch and walk from RI to MOLEC right ..

It seems so but assembly is the second last period on tuedays ending at 1.30pm, followed by Cohort Time which ends at 1.50pm. According to my DS, this last period is a 'nonsense period' which enables him and others who take 3rd lang to have lunch at 1.30pm, leaving them plenty of time to walk over to MOELC.

Oic.. Thanks naggo-nitemate šŸ˜„ ...so I believe most of the time they will lunch at junction 8 before walking to MOLEC?

DS does so primarily due to more-value-for-$ reason. Some prefer to da bao fast food from jn8 to eat at MOELC while others grab a quick bite at MOELC canteen w/c serves cup noodles too (warning: the exact same cup noodle is 20cents cheaper in RI).

Been some time since I checked this thread. šŸ™‚ First of all, would like to congratulate and welcome all the new members of the RI family (parents and sons). šŸ˜„ I wish you all the best in your 4 year journey through the Secondary side.

            Now to answering some queries:
Regarding the Mother Tongue workbooks, I don't recall ever buying or using them. Teachers have only used the textbooks. In the off-chance that your son's teacher requires the book, he will be given prior notice, so just let your son purchase the book from the bookshop if need be.

Regarding the AEP, there will be a selection test for applicants, but I highly doubt that he will be rejected if he wants to join (not like Music where you must be Grade 4). The important thing to consider is whether he enjoys Art, and whether he is able to cope with an additional subject. However, since you mentioned that he does some Art and Craft with you for leisure, the former should not be a problem.

Do shoot me with some more questions, and Merry Christmas!

haha one more thing to add regarding the lunch situation:
The queues in the RI Canteen can get very long after school during lunch. The most popular alternative would be to eat at J8, but fast food can be pricey. Your son may want to eat at S11 coffeeshop (along the way to J8) instead, where the queues are shorter and food is cheaper. There is even a chicken rice stall that gives students additional rice there. šŸ™‚

                      Hi justwayneme,

Thank you for answering my queries about the Chinese workbooks n AEP programme.

The teacher who briefed the aep session mentioned that in Yr 1 & 2, the lessons are within curriculum time. So if DS is lucky to be selected, we'll see how it goes for the first 2 yrs. I hope it is not too difficult to withdraw if he decides to later.

Thanks for your sharing n have a blessed Christmas!
