1) Dean mentioned that class will end earlier on Tues/Thurs, so those taking 3rd lang can opt for these 2 days. So what are the typical dismissal time for the rest of the day (not taking into consideration of cca yet)?

      2) Is it advisable to join PAACT (hope I got this right)? I am a working mum, so not sure how are the time commitment for PAACT like.

      3) The compulsory books are Maths text 1/2, HMT text/workbook and some other MT reference. Are the MT reference useful or just get the ę‰‹å†Œ?

      Sorry for so many questions.

      1) Tuesdays & THursdays, they will end at 2pm, that's why they can go to MOERLC for their 3rd Lang. I think 3rd lang ends at least 4+pm or 5+pm at least? Other days of the week - depends. Can end between 3+pm to 4+pm. CCA can start at 4pm or even 6pm, depending on the CCA the child does.

      2) PAACT: I didn't join. Your choice.

      3) Only bought the textbooks for HMT. I did buy the handbook, but I don't think he used it much. Math textbook not used much I think?

      Thanks phankao.

        Hi,

Need some advice re Higher Chinese for Sec 1. My dd has never taken HCL before. Though she scored A for Chinese during PSLE, I am concerned whether she can cope. She does not want to continue with the Chinese tuition as she feels that she should be able to deal with HCL . I am wondering whether this is wise as she hardly converse or read books in Chinese. I am not expecting her to score but a pass will do, so that she does not have to take Chinese in JC level. Is HCL very difficult in Sec 1 ? Should I just enrol her in some Chinese enrichment class instead of having individual tuition ?

My boy does individual tuition. I don't know if group tuition would work for him. His chinese is quite poor - yes, doesn't read books nor converse. Speaks like a foreigner. He prefers individual tuition. His individual tuition is not very intense, not like in primary school though. He does not do too well, but not in the lowest banding for CL in his level, and not asked to drop HCL for year 3, so I guess can still survive to do HCL so he doesn't need to do in A-level years.

Thanks Phankao ! I will probably enrol my dd in group tuition. I have been trying to encourage her to watch Chinese news but sigh.... it's difficult.
Was at the sch to buy next year sch uniform, dropped by the G.O. and was told the PE dept is on vacation. That's why no email reply yet.

Got my boy's overall result slip. His NAPFA is Gold, but PE grade is C+. How was the swimming module assessed???

ya same for my child and cos of this, GPA was pulled down. Heard there was a rubric which the sch did not release. :frustrated:

          My boy's GPA also suffered.

He did not mention the rubric. During the then on-going swimming sessions, I asked him if there were any teachers assessing their performance, he told me the PE teacher was not at the swimming pool. Even the last swimming session, there was not swim test whatsoever.

I believe we shld get to the bottom of this, for the benefit of next year JH2 or other outsourced PE courses for our children in future.

If you know of any other parents having similar concerns, pls rally them to make enquiries with the sch.
My dd has asked a couple of friends to have their parents to write in. I understand that the school has replied the same thing saying they are looking into it. But it has been so long since they've got the results back. Hope they are not playing delay tactic and hoping we will forget. I've contemplated to go higher like MOE if need be.

Only 2 more weeks before school re-opening. Ah...you think they will bother to re-do their Overall results?

Tat's wat the dean promised. He said if need be they would do sth. The point is how to get them to realise it is not a fair way to assess the students. Tot since they don't take O-level exam, the yearly overall results should matter.
