Thanks. What exactly is ART? (my son will sure says it's waste of time). Does it include art theory eg. appreciation of art history eg. leonardo DV, Van Gogh or just plain drawing? (argg!)
I will get whacked :spank: by autolycus for using ACSI IB and IP these 2 acronyms interchangeably. I meant ACSI IP actually but you have answered my questions thanks. I was curious if ACSI IP is more suitable for humanities-geared kids. Plus like what you said, only 1 IP kid went Accelerated Science :yikes:. Reassuring to hear that it's all rounded and your Math n Science geared DS can cope well with Humanities. ACSI IP/IB is very recognized overseas especially in US. So very curious to find out more about its success and which type of boys are more suitable :scratchhead:breezy:

Yr 1 to Yr 4 of ACSI IP are pre-IB years so I am not able to comment if the Yr5 and 6 curriculum is more suited for humanities-geared boys 
My view is that ACSI IP track will benefit independent learners.
For 2012, there will be 3 triple science, double maths classes. When it comes to subject combination selection for sec 3, the boys are spoilt for choice. Many permutations are allowed (including computer science).
I suppose for Bizworld, if a there is a corporate sponsor that comes in (the way they work with tertiary students..) then perhaps it can be a lot more real world..
Another question, do the boys get to organise school programmes eg, run the Yr orientation camp, organise CIP etc as part of leadership development...(i know for RI - there are a lot of student initiated programmes) -
Also, how are prefectorial board/committee chosen? I know for one school in Yr 3, the boys need to set up their own electorial committee, do public speeches to rally the student body to vote for them. (very much like the PAP style)

Trying to teach DS to learn how to tie a tie but he is not taking it seriously at all so unsuccessful so far.
If your son can't manage the tie yet, just pre-tie it for him so that he only needs to put it round his head and pull the back to tighten it. Just for the first day when he learns to do it.
Quite a hassle to drive to the school, coz if the car is not registered with the school yet, there are only very limited parking lots and you have a long long way to walk in. -

In year 2, the boys have to link an article from the newspapers to any 2 objects they can find, draw some 12 pcs of abstract art and somehow \"merge them\", do a wet wash and finally submit a writeup on the pc of abstract art.
Can be quite \"stressful\" for boys who are not into drawing and they would be asked to re-draw the pieces. The marks for Art can be taken as a 6th subject in the calculation of aggregate for IP stream, same goes for the express stream, for L1R5.
Boys who did well in Art for year 2 will be presented with a \"Certificate of Distinction\" by the school and a letter to encourage them to take up Higher Art for yr 3.
The boys in ACSI get many opportunities to organise or lead events. There's charity cafes for every level so every class will get a chance to plan. Same goes for CIP, the boys will have to decide the programmes to be presented in the old folks' home. Some 100 students will be picked to be Peer Support Leaders (PSL) at the the end of Yr 2 to lead orientation camps for the yr1s.
Each boy has to take 2 ccas and there are ample opportunities for them to take lead for big and small events. There's gonna be a point where u start to get worried that your son is spending too much time in their ccas or out-of-class activities, but well, I feel this is how ACSI groom boys to be more \"all-rounder\". It's amazing, but somehow, they chug along.

Prefect selection is a tedious process, and stringent too. It happens around August every year. First, a teacher has to nominate a student. Then, the student needs to get 10 teachers to fill up an evaluation form for the Prefectorial Board Master. Upon clearing this phase, the student will have to attend a 3-Days Prefects Selection Camp in September. They will be evaluated by Prefect Master and Seniors for suitability. If he clears the camp evaluation, he'll be put on a 1 mth \"on-the-job\" evaluation. After successfully clearing this last phase, he'll be an \"Assistant Prefect\" in year 2.
Prefects wear a different school tie. -
Third language - my DS did not get third language that he chose during school selection (chose only one, unfortunately). Can I apply again to the school for a different third language?

Is there any other foreign scholars intake for year 3 ?
And the no is not part of the 100 from express joining IP in year 3 right ?
I do not have figures but i know they also take in china and indian scholars
Just like to know whether these scholars are considered as part of the 100 entry into IP at year 3 ?
Or there will still be 100 crossing over to IP from the express track on top of the enrollment of foreign scholars ? -

I don’t really think ACSI is doing well. Their COP has dropped by a drastic 5 in one year. All my friends that wanted to go to ACSI originally now run to other schools like River Valley. Anyone knows why is that so?
