Friend bought it and we are gonna try it for Xmas day diinner. (opening ceremony for her fryer)

I intend to fry fish and chips out of this, but hearing that itโ€™s oiless frying, not sure it will turn out like the old way of frying.

Has anyone tried the battered fish? For fries do you need to double fry like the conventional way?

Is this price better than what your friend can offer?

I saw this offer @ JP too but the redemption of free gift is at Philips office.

NTUC Xtra (saw it at Jurong Point, not sure about other outlets) is having a very good promotion. They're selling at $299.90 with free gift. Rush down there soon! While stocks last. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Thanks. I just bought mine a few days ago, under $300 with free gift, from a neighborhood electrical shop. The promo is by Philips, just need to bring the receipt to Philips customer care @ Toa Payoh to redeem the freebies. Not many dealers/retailers are aware of this promo. I asked and was told no freebies but the owner made an effort to call and verify with them.

Just sharing what Iโ€™ve cooked over the past 2 days.

              1. Homemade fries
Soaked in water for 30 mins, towel dry and sprayed with a little oil. Not crispy but tasted like my mother and milโ€™s. I guess homemade cannot get a crispy texture.

              2. Frozen fries
Sprayed some oil and this was fried to perfection. Crispy on the outside, soft inside.

              3. Chicken wings
No oil added. Tender and juicy when hot but meat turned slightly dry @ room temp, still acceptable though.

              4. Chicken wings coated with bread crumbs
Added one tbsp olive to marinate and "undercooked" for a min or two, nice tender chicken wings even when itโ€™s cooled. Crust remains crispy too.

              5. Pomfret
Cooked 2 pomfrets. 1st fish was slightly "undercooked", end result was a very juicy fish. Added 2 more mins to the 2nd fish and the end result was a very crispy fish. The kids ate up all the fins, gills and tails.

              6. Wonton
Brushed with oil before frying, nice crisp on the skin. Filling was tender and juicy when eaten hot but when at room temp, the wonton lost its crisp and the fillings became dry.

Although taste not 100% like deep fried, Iโ€™m willing to compromise for healthier living, ie minus all the bad cholesterol. I must say it is good enough for me and Iโ€™m a happy user.

                Just to share

I cut the wings into 3 parts, ie drumlet, mid-joint and \"tail\".

For drumlets, I cooked @ 200C for 8 mins (preheated), turned sides and cook @ 160C for another 5-7 mins. Same for mid-joint except @ 160C for 4-5 mins. The smallest section, 180C for 10 mins, flip over and cook another 3-4 mins.

how many chicken wings can it cook in a batch?

how long to cook the chicken wings?

You are welcome. One batch about 7-8 chicken wings depending on size of wings (those i use were standard to small sizes).

i can only remember cooking time for the soya sauce version because i just cooked it yesterday ๐Ÿ˜› At 180 degrees, about 7 mins, then turn wings to other side and cook for further 7 mins and i added another 2 mins for extra crispiness. So altogether about 16 mins. Will depend on size of wings too. Not following recipe so a bit of trial and error. As long as don't overcook and chau da, can just add minutes if not enough.

There were 2 recipe books that come together with airfryer and those will give more precise timings. But i haven't had time to buy the ingredients so yet to try out those recipes inside.

Quite tempted to buy the fryer. Could I know if it is difficult to clean the fryer after cooking?

hi Blessed Homemaker, does the Philips Airfryer consume alot of electricity? Now that electricity tariff keeps going up, this is also a big consideration.

Also, how is it different from the conventional oven?

It's quite difficult with all those skin/crumbs stuck onto the basket. But I've just learnt that I'm not doing it the correct way. Still experimenting, will keep you posted.

Not sure how much though but watts is lower than my oven so there are already some savings.
