Hi Stinkybomb,:thankyou: Thanks hmsg n Mvm...
Saw the traffic this morning...OMG! Tot DS last sch was bad...this is worse! :faint: but still orderly n parents r being pretty much patient... Is it just first day or the same everyday? The traffic was heavy all the way fr my place at upper Bukit Timah at 6:40.. I think better leave 10 mins earlier n see how... I have to salute those coming fr further away!
Wat a waste this morning! Tot rain is coming n cancelled the sch wide assembly ... Rain never come lor.. But I guess better be safe than sorry with so many kids...
Welcome to Nanyang family!
Traffic is normally this way for first couple of days & when it rains (other times). Once the kids (and parents) settle down to a routine, the traffic should be better. I normally leave my house in Bishan at 6:30. Reach around 6:45 +/-. If I leave around 6:45, end up at school around 7:10/7:15!! and a panicky kid in the back seat (worried that he is late) :faint: -
My dd first day's Nanyang's life, seems confusion.
This morning she didn't know where to assemble coz supposed to go basketball court but there no ppl ... got ppl wearing red walking around she went to them and asked, but they actually show her wrong classroom, she just went in and looked around, when she sit down she saw the ppl staring at her......
After school, she took wrong school bus, when she realized morning bus and afternoon bus is difference, it was too late.
still now, she hasn't come back. :gloomy: -

My kids used to take schoolbus 2 years ago. IMO, the school bus drivers vary greatly in their attitude and helpfulness.
One year the driver was fantastic. When my boy forgot to tell him that he was staying back in school, the driver went all over the school to look for him.
The following year, a different driver was terrible. He didn't care if the kids were on the bus and would just drive off without waiting or counting the nos. Also, there was a lot of bullying and bad influence on the bus, which is why I stopped using schoolbus. Grandma or I fetch them, or they take bus home.
Your DD needs to rely on herself-- as I always tell my kids: \"No one will look out for you; sometimes even the teachers wouldn't. you have to take care of yourselves.\" -

I have called school bus driver, they told me the status, another driver would send her back.
Oh dear. I hope the schoolbus driver will send her home.
......
Finally she came back at 3:40pm.
I am considering let her take public bus herself after half year.
Yes, \"No one will look out for you; sometimes even the teachers wouldn't. you have to take care of yourselves.\" It is useful! thank you. -

Does anyone knows which are the next year P4 HA class? Very curious.
Heard from a friend they are A and B -
lizhi:
Gosh, hope she is fine after such a first day. How old is she?

OMG hey my daughter also took a different bus for returning home during her first year. But the bus uncle will give her a bus number tag.
There are no parent volunteers ? Each class has 2 assigned I think. When I did the PV for first 3 days , I was in charged of bring those taking bus to the hall and the bus aunties will be taking down their names too.
Has it changed ? -
Taken a look at DD's timetable. Looks like she has to wear PE attire for 4 days a week again. 3 days with PE periods, and a fourth day has EC (G&D) which stands for dance and gym.
Does anyone know what is meant by EC (C&O)?
Also, I don't see PAL(CA) anymore. Wondering which period is Chinese Caligraphy, as I want to avoid letting DD wear the new set of uniform on days when she has caligraphy. -

PV is only for P1. lizhi's dd is in P4. New transferee for GEP. Probably the teachers were expecting P4 to be able to take care of themselves. They forget that it can be quite daunting to suddenly be plunged into a school that is new & bigger than what she may have been previously used to. FT should have assisted a bit more.
