I am disturbed that some netizens are so adamant about influencing others to be anti-government that they will say whatever they want, and will use every opportunity to stir up emotions.

Please, instead of focusing on this, just move on. The discussion on the 2011 PSLE thread is so much more positive and so much more close to reality…that is…you don’t need to get into "R" schools or "H" schools or "N" schools to be successful in life, but you need the right attitude!

religion is always a very hot sensitive topic to debate upon.

              keep religion out.

                prada:
MOE issues a new policy to secondary schools in October 2011 to disallow DSA appeals. The reason is new Education Minister Heng Swee Keat wants to enforce character education across as many platforms as possible. So the moral message is that if you have nade a decision, you should stick to it.
What's wrong with this? If he has the moral fibre to push this through, I will vote for him next round.
                prada:
What MOE did not realise is that DSA decisions are made by parents, not their minors.

But... but... but... MOE's DSA website specifies that parents must submit for kids.
                prada:
Some school officials told parents that they can appeal but were over-ruled by the new Heng Swee Keat's policy when it was suddenly released in October 2011.
Must be RI, since RI was the only one who collected $20 for appeal and now has to refund?
                prada:
He is now enforcing character education across all schools, for students only. Teachers are exempted from character development.
The way I see it, the ENTIRE teaching body in RI including the Principal got a nice slap on the wrist this time for thinking that MOE's rules doesn't apply to a top school.
                prada:
As part of new PAP, the minister should give a one-year grace period ( for just one cohort ) instead of enforcing it suddenly.
Mr Heng Swee Keat , a SPF Scholar from RI, was a former senior police officer and MD of Monetary Authority of Singapore, so his style is more enforcement than consultative.
He seemed very consultative to me when he met with parents and attended student gatherings. Just because he is from SPF does not mean he is not consultative. SPF management happens to be highly consultative these days.
                prada:
In this new policy, DSA students cannot apply for DSA at Secondary 2 and Secondary 4 to transfer to another school. You have to stay through all six years even if you are unhappy - so it is a dead end for some poor kids.
If you thought it was a dead end, why accept the offer in the first place? Schools that offer DSA are hardly dead end schools... and the kids in there are hardly poor things.
