All About Parent Volunteers (PV)

dimension:
My best guess is that it is based on individual schools. Can I check for PV, do schools that limit their number of PV, give priority to parents staying closer? ie if they need 200 PV and 300 apply, they let those stay within 1km have priority, then those within 2km before accepting any >2km? or does it depend on individual schools?
tq

sigh thats sad. if only they have some standing rules, easier for us parents to plan haha… tq anyway

How long do we have to stay in a property in order to qualify for the <1km category?

The successful ones should be contacted by phone for interview, rejected ones are those received email later on the very last day of 2011

I was hoping for miracle.

I’m a bit confused…Renting a place near to school will qualify u less than 1km? If I have got a 2nd home address, which I can use; does that mean I’m qualify to less than 1km?
My current scenario is as such:
Current stay: 1-2km from school
2nd Home: <1km from school
Can I use my 2nd home as the home address to give me a better advantage to qualify my girl to the school that we hope to get her in? My place is near to Tao Nan/ CHIJ (Katong), and we feel that CHIJ will be a more holistic place for her studies… -
There is NO STANDARD criteria for PV selection.
Individual schools manage their own PV scheme. They decide their own criteria, who they want or don’t want, how many to take, etc. And they do not need to provide any reason on why any applicant is not accepted.
So far NO school has published their selection criteria.
Some schools had advised applicants who stayed far away to try other schools, as based on their past years’ balloting distance, these applicants will have no chance to even participate in the ballot. -

Thanks Bigdevil for the info.

Moving near the school may not guranteered a place as needs balloting so our best option is to get a place near the schools which either of us are alumini/old school students.
However, these schools are in Bishan, Serangoon and we stay and work in the west. Now just lookign around for a good place to move. The only good thing is that we still have a few years to consider. -

Hi tem, there are still many other good schools around. Let's plan early and if you want, you can always discuss here as there are many experienced parents here willing to share their advice and experience.
