All About Life Without Maids

24hr-mum:
Thanks 24hrmum for your sharing.i had the same situation as u, wf my exmaid who left in nov after wkg for us for 4+yrs. she was similar to ur maid, from a humble maid to one who started using fb, and getting on the hp more often during the day tho not talking on the phone but was usg fb n sms. she was shocked when i told her that my mil coming to stay wf us (just an excuse) and so we had to send her off cos they cant get along. it was v emotionally stressful for me to tell her the news and on that day itsf i still felt bad and stressed cos generally she is ok but more shortcomings are showing but its becos she has worked too long. no more humility already in her attitude towards us so she needs a new boss to be back to square one. or maybe she compared wf her frds who worked for angmoh?
anyway, find some excuse to say u not renewing her. but never mention its becos of her work etc or the kids etc. find a good way to end.
maids are like some food... they are only \"best before...eg 3 years\" ie they do hav an expiry date.
Am I right to say that you sent her back on the day itself after telling her? What was her reaction? Will she blame for not given her the choice to transfer out? My dilemma is do I make a decision send her back or give her the choice if she wants to transfer. -
no i told her in advance, ard 2 mth bef hm
leave. she accepted it n ask for transfer. mayb she wanted it out anyway n to go for angmoh. i gave some excuse tats not related to her wk -
Did your ex-helper ask you to provide references with potential employers? What did you say/do? Thanks.
-
Mine didn’t ask me to provide since I sent her back to the agent after many unpleasant incidents.
However, the new employers called us after they found our number on her notebook. We were surprised. Apparently she was creating big trouble for her new employers just after 2 weeks in their household. The hubby and wife and confinement nanny were having disputes due to her. Well, we didn’t have anything good to say about her, just honest truths. -
Hi fifiyeo, i own a Philips Airfryer. Anything u like to know?

Hi Claudine,
Thanks for replying. Is it really good?
1. How's the quality of the fried food?
2. Is it easy to clean up?
3. What can we make besides fries? Can we also make tempura or fried ikanbilis and peanuts?
It looks quite good for ads and we're thinking of getting one. Robinsons is having a promotion now at $349. -
Hi, its not bad as there is really no need to use any oil.
I only tried frying nuggets and chicken wings. The chicken wings turn out to be very cripsy and very good to eat. (i marinated it before frying).
The only bad part is the washing, i found it quite tough to wash the net, though the instructions say to immerse it in hot water after use, maybe i didnt soak it long enough. But overall, i must say its oil-less and fast to use!

Someone told me can use a little lime or lemon juice with water in the pot and turn it on for awhile. It helps in the cleaning up process. -
Thanks for the tips! I should give it a try.

Yap, my maid will be going off in July this year, so i am already preparing myself with all the \"machines\" - airfryer, roomba, happy call pan, etc. Have to plan the time carefully and expect alot of unpredictables as my boy is only 19months - haha. But I am sure happy to pick up some tips in this forum.
Am now shopping for a Thermal pot and a clothes dryer for the family - any recommendations?
