All About Life Without Maids

YJL:
I have been through that. My maid of 3 yrs changed ever since she got to know a few other maids. Wanted a handphone and when we don't allow, she cried and sulked. We relented on condition she uses it only on weekends. But she wants to use it on weekdays too, and gently threatened that she wants to go home if we do not agree. So, I granted her wish but without telling her we were sending her home. 2 days before her flight, we told her that we were sending her home coz we do not agree to her using the hp. (Btw, her work and attitude becomes worse with handphone and facebook). She was shocked at first, but we explain to her our reasons. She was ok thereafter and in fact, looks happier, especially when we brought her around shopping. But I do not give her any gifts or extra, coz I had given her an extra 1 month salary when she extended her contract.I will be going maid less, dropping bomb to her real soon. Am all ready for the challenge tho I know the phrase of settling down will take awhile. But enough is enough when i feel that she doesnt reciprocate our care on her anymore. I thought I have got a heaven sent helper these years but things really change ever since she started her off, getting more demanding and I have to put up her black face and mood swing. She's into a relationship and also joined some basketball club during her off and very active in FB, so much so she's always on the hp. It's the attitude thing that drives up my nerve and sometimes it's difficult to put thing across when they have been with u for long. From a kampong girl when she first came with nothing to one that has a lot that we showered her, she has taken us for granted and she knows our weakness is we are the soft speaking, gentle nature type and predicted that we will never send her off suddenly.得寸进尺best describe it.
Now I only headache how am I going to tell her we will not renew her
contract anymore. This will be our first and also last helper. Any advice how i should go about it? How advance will
you inform your helper? Thanks in advance for your kind sharing.
Wish you all the best. -

i had the same situation as u, wf my exmaid who left in nov after wkg for us for 4+yrs. she was similar to ur maid, from a humble maid to one who started using fb, and getting on the hp more often during the day tho not talking on the phone but was usg fb n sms. she was shocked when i told her that my mil coming to stay wf us (just an excuse) and so we had to send her off cos they cant get along. it was v emotionally stressful for me to tell her the news and on that day itsf i still felt bad and stressed cos generally she is ok but more shortcomings are showing but its becos she has worked too long. no more humility already in her attitude towards us so she needs a new boss to be back to square one. or maybe she compared wf her frds who worked for angmoh?I will be going maid less, dropping bomb to her real soon. maids are like some food... they are only \"best before...eg 3 years\" ie they do hav an expiry date. -

I always have fear that if I tell her only days in advance that we are sending her off, I think she will be mad with us for not telling ahead and given her a choice if she wants to transfer to another home. With that in mind, I'm not sure what she will put up for the few days when she's still with us. To say or not to

Am I right to say that you sent her back on the day itself after telling her? What was her reaction? Will she blame for not given her the choice to transfer out? My dilemma is do I make a decision send her back or give her the choice if she wants to transfer. -
no i told her in advance, ard 2 mth bef hm
leave. she accepted it n ask for transfer. mayb she wanted it out anyway n to go for angmoh. i gave some excuse tats not related to her wk -
Did your ex-helper ask you to provide references with potential employers? What did you say/do? Thanks.
-
Mine didn’t ask me to provide since I sent her back to the agent after many unpleasant incidents.
However, the new employers called us after they found our number on her notebook. We were surprised. Apparently she was creating big trouble for her new employers just after 2 weeks in their household. The hubby and wife and confinement nanny were having disputes due to her. Well, we didn’t have anything good to say about her, just honest truths. -
Hi fifiyeo, i own a Philips Airfryer. Anything u like to know?

Hi Claudine,
Thanks for replying. Is it really good?
1. How's the quality of the fried food?
2. Is it easy to clean up?
3. What can we make besides fries? Can we also make tempura or fried ikanbilis and peanuts?
It looks quite good for ads and we're thinking of getting one. Robinsons is having a promotion now at $349.
