Anyone does not have a TV set in the living room?

Yes, starhub has a lock. Just go to menu and click parental control. Input your own code and only that code can unlock the channels you choose to lock. If unsure look up the starhub guide on how to do it. All the best!Ichigokun:
Anyway, can I give a proposal?

You know the Singtel miotv box? There's this system whereby you can use a code to lock the miotv.
IF your children want to watch some TV ocassionally or they have been extremely good, you can unlock it for them, when time is up, lock it up.
Don't be so strict la. I mean like, come on.
At least give them like 3 hours a week?
so funny! Tdy hubby and I went down to ID company to discuss the interior decor for our new plce...the ID guy literally 'jaw drop' when we said maybe don't want TV console...don't want TV. He said all teh projects he do don't have 'no tv' concept.
I want to try out the advice--eat until 7 and then can watch tv till 7.30 or something.
I cannot stand it when my kids wke up in the morning, auto walk to living room and turnon the TV themselves. they can even navigate between Cable TV and DVD mode.
Starhub box also got lock up? Can i just take away that card should disable the box liao right -

It is absolutely workable! How do I know? Because it has been like that for years since we have kids. No TV in living room. The living room is for interaction, reading, talking, computers, playing (plus scolding, quarrelling etc etc).Just wanna ask if anyone does not have a TV set in the living room?---hubby n i are thinking of NOT having a TV set in the living room when we move into our new house next yr---coz we felt tt our 2 kids (5 & 3) are watching too much TV.
One pet peeve (picked up from being baby sat by Grandma when i was still working full time) was that they insist on having the tV on (Disney Junior or DVDs) when its meal time. They will eat and watch TV and its very frustrating to keep prodding them to eat.
Do you think it is too drastic. Hubby was thinking of having the TV set in the master bed room and let the kids use DVD player --controlled timing/frequency.
Do u think this is a workable idea...
If you r currently with this NO TV IN LIVING RM arrangement, do u have anything in plce of the 'TV console' or feature wall ?
Only one TV and it is in the master bedroom where everyone gathers for a spot of watching news, American idol, cooking shows and movies at night.
P/S. We have to live with suggestions from relatives and friends that we are insane.

This said, we didn't own a TV till DS reached P4. By that time, both kids had learnt to fill their time with plenty of other things that we had a bit of trouble figuring out how to make the TV work after we moved it to the new house.
But at least the TV is now there to show guests that we're normal people... who own a TV. -
Absolutely when I next renovate the house, the TV set is going upstairs and the living and dining areas will have NO TV. It is such a conversation killer, apart from encouraging poor TV habits in the kids.

Kekekekeke! -
Lol. Yes our interior designer thought it was so odd that we didnβt have (and didnβt want) a TV in the living room.
When they came to take photos of the finished renovation to feature on their website, they even did a Photoshop digital touch-up to superimpose a TV onto that blank white wall

My parentsβ house now and when I was growing up didnβt have a TV in the living room. There was a TV in their bedroom, and in the "family room" (it was roomy house). So I never got used to having the TV on all the time, or eating in front of the TV. Meals were strictly only eaten at the dining table.
With kids and in an HDB flat, itβs a bit harder to not have the TV in the living room as we donβt want the kids on our bed. But weβve always been very strict about TV watching, and donβt have the TV on during meals (except during the NDP most years and the recent Olympics!). The TV is only switched on for specific programmes, and switched off after. We average 1-2 hours of TV a day (including 1 hr of news at night). -
TV set? How quaint. TV sets are for old folks like us.

My kids use our TV set sometimes, especially when they want to watch a movie that has special effects. But scheduled programming is mostly for oldies - the young ones use streaming services!

Wah... you must have a 3D TV. But I thought they don't sell them anymore?
