      Hi crystalbelle08

Yes I will be attending orientation next Wed. Sure.. will send you a pm with my feedback after next wed.
Yes one thing about traffic there is that it's only 1 way in.. so hopefully wont be too jammed up during drop off and pick up time.
My boy will be in nursery too. 🙂

        Dear Ms Patricia Koh

Wrote a email to you, but had not gotten any reply. Thus i hope you will see this message and reply soon.

My daughter is currently attending the half day childcare at Pat’s schoolhouse, Lakeside. Since 2010, she has been with the school. We enrolled her in Pat’s based on the fact that it offers a well rounded teaching environment and the fact that it is also a childcare where as working parents, we are able to send them while we know that they are being taken care of by professionals. My child also rely on the schoolbus to fetch her from school, luckily we could send her to school while on the way to work. Unfortunately, the school bus had to stop operation for 2 weeks (during childcare week) this coming December, and this greatly affects how we can arrange to pick her up from school.

Actually i had feedback before to the bus company and the school since 2008, but they said they could not do anything as this is the arrangement with the school and there wasn’t any suggestion from the school either, we parents just have to acceppt it. And more ridiculously, they told me this is part of their operating costs which i do not comprehend, since we paid full month for their bus fares. I do not deny that the drivers should get their rest, but to completely stop for 1/2 weeks each holiday (June and Dec), means 1 whole month without transport every year.

I have my mum who is taking care of my son, and it will be very inconvenient for her to lug the boy and fetch the elder one, given her age. Even if she is to take taxi everyday, it is still inconvenient, and moreover we had paid for the school bus, but yet there is no service.

We hope that you could negotiate with the bus company to continue operation for the childcare week. If its a few days off, we as parents could still understand, but not for 1 month a year, this is too much and causes too much inconvenience. We do not have such flexibility to take leave for 2 continuous week (19th Dec to 28th Dec) and just to fetch the kids.

        Appreciate your reply. Thanks.

        Regards, Ching Ling

              kabalevsky:
For extended half day for K1 and K2, there is enrichment from 1pm - 2.30pm, thereabouts, after lunch.

K1 nap time is after this enrichment. K2 usually don't nap anymore.

For full day K1 and K2, after a short rest time (some kids don't nap at all), they have another enrichment slot from 5pm -6pm. This is where swimming and so on comes in.
Seems to me that there are some changes this year. The extended programme (EP) is no longer strictly from 1-3pm. Some of the bundle stuff (swimming, Harmony Road, Art & Craft/Cookery) get thrown in earlier during the day.

What is most surprising to me is the change made to the EP. There used to be a different EP each day, making a total of 5. These were English Speech & Drama, I-Math, Fastrack Kid, Chinese Speech & Drama, and Fastrack Music. They have now combined English Speech & Drama with Chinese Speech & Drama, meaning that the child will probably have one week English S&D and another week Chinese S&D. Therefore, out of the 5 days from Monday to Friday, there will be one day when our children does not have EP in the afternoon.

Could parents whose K1 kids are in other centres share if this is also happening in other centres?

                hi busymom

it seems different practices for different branch.
At LAP (lim ah pin), nap time is 1-3pm, then is tea break, followed by the one hour extended program (one day speech n drama english, one day fast trac kids, oe day speech n drama chinese, one day imaths), he is not in the bundled program (harmony road, swimming n cooking/pe), so i dunno how they squeeze them in.

alot of new teachers in LAP branch. hopefully they maintain the quality. missed his old teachers alot.

So also 4 days of EP only? There isn't Fastrack Music? Well at least you have both Chinese S&D and English S&D. At Halifax, it seems like it is Chinese S&D or English S&D depending on the teachers. Sounds like they have a lack of resources but I can't understand. :scratchhead:

ops.there is fastrack music, but i dunno which day. not so good in remembering.
if i recall correctly, this arrangment is coz of the bundled program, so that they can pull the bundled program kids out for their extra classes, but to ensure that they also have a rest as well.

How can some centres choose to drop something just like that. It just isn't fair in my opinion. Will clarify with the school again why they are doing this.
