How to grow taller???

I read an article on this in the ST some years ago. Apparently it's using synthetic hormones ... don't feel safe. Yeah, my 1.30+m sec 1 boy complaining he's \"short\". He also doesn't feel comfortable with such jabs, so I told him to wait until he's 15yo, surely will grow taller then (altho' don't know to how tall, lah). So far, I've observed my kids don't start having their growth spurts early, so he'll probably follow suit.

My boy is on growth hormone jabs. Been a yr already. So far so good. guess if everything is normal then don't take the jab. Like mine it's because of a small pituitary gland size so we decided to go ahead with it. Just replacing what his body lacks.

He is now 6. Was 96cm, now 104cm. Grew 8cm with the GH. Very gd coz he was only growing 3cm a yr before that. The main thing that also changed was his face changed. Became more mature, no longer look like toddler.

Uh. His face changed? Did the GH give him premature puberty? It's good to check it out cause its kinda scary.

Cause during puberty, the face turns more squarish, if his face turned more squarish, it's better to take more care.

Cause if he has premature puberty, after that when the GH wears off, he's gonna be even more short than his original potential height.

Growing 3cm a year is pretty normal. Don't be so kanchiong la.

So young? 6yo? Thought growth hormones are not administered for preschoolers? Thought usually only recommended for after they start puberty?

My Ds2 was around 1.03m when he started P1. Shorter than yours leh. He was put on SHS(school health service) height monitoring. But he grew like 4-5cm every year, so i took him off the monitoring by P2 bc it entailed me sending him and waiting ages at SHS. Afterall, I knew there are short genes in our family (MIL is only like 1.35m). He's now just started Sec 1 and is around 1.33cm. So he has grown on average 5cm each year. But short compared to all the other boys in his cohort, altho' there are boys who are just a tad taller than him.

When we were are SHS, they did explain to us that if the child did not show that he was growing each year - ie. growth rate slow, they would not put them on growth hormones or other interventions until extensive tests are done that it is suitable, one of which is bone scan to study the cells., if they are young, still have potential for further growth, etc, etc.

Anyway, SHS also did an extrapolation of our Ds2's height to be an adult height of 1.75m....wah, to us, very tall already. HAHA. Bc my dh is about same height as me at 1.6m. We thought it quite a *joke*, but if he really is to be 1.75m, then really don't need intervention, lah! ;D So we'll see in another 2 more years how he'll start growing once puberty growth spurts get rolling....

he is P5 this year, and is 156/57cm tall now.[/quote]156 /7 is the height of my Sec 3 boy now! haha.... Surely your p5 will grow quite tall, lah! But then my Sec 3 boy only just started on his growth spurt recently. Feet really grow very fast at this stage, I find. He changes 1 full shoe size every 3-6mths, so now his shoe size already size 8. Hopefully it's an indication of his eventual height bc my brothers are around 1.8m tall and have shoe size no smaller than 8.

He changed his toddler face to a child face. Not puberty lah. Previously he looked like a 3 yr old. U know, with all the baby fats?

And 3cm a yr isn't really normal. Should be about 5cm a year. And it kept slowing down. Anyway, his blood test and MRI showed abnormality which was why the kkh dr sugg GH.

Really? Mwahahaha I'm growing 7.1333cm (average) every year :B

If his face turned more child-like then it's okay. Hopefully don't break out into tons of pimples :B that will be premature puberty

[/quote]I was 1.573m at Primary Five too :B This month I'm currently 12 years and 9 months old. 1.76m currently :celebrate:

Anyway P5 so tall already no need to drink such things to make him grow taller la. If later grow too tall will look very weird.

Starting to grow hair on private part. Armpit and mustache haven't grow.

I'm only just starting puberty and 1.76m alr. Hopefully I stop at 1.85m or sth liddat.
