Mrs Singh has a certain number of sweets to distribute to her class. If she gives each of them 5 sweets, she will have 54 extra sweets. If she gives each of them 8 sweets, she would need another 33 more. How many children does she have in her class?

Mary was preparing some lemon syrup concentration for her friends. The amount of lemon syrup initially used was 3/7 the amount of water used. To make it more diluted, she decided to add 1100 ml more water into the syrup drink such that 1/5 of the concentration was syrup. How much syrup did she use?

At first --> Lemon syrup : Water = 3u : 7u
In the end --> Lemon syrup : Water = 1: 4 = 3u : 12 u

12u - 7u --> 1100 ml , 1u --> 220 ml
Amount of Lemon syrup --> 3u --> 3 x 220 ml = 660 ml

There were 60 pupils in the canteen, 3/5 of them were girls. When some girls left the canteen, the number of girls who remained in the canteen was 1/4 of the total number of pupils who remained in the canteen. How many girls left the canteen?

q1- total number of stamps remains the same.
at first, Justin : Sean --> 3u : 5u
in the end, justin : Sean --> 1:3 --> 2u : 6u
So, we see that Justin gave 1u to Sean.
1u --> 65, 5u --> 5 x 65 = 325

q2- number of boys in canteen remained the same.
at first, Number of boys = 2/5 x 60 = 24, number of girls = 60-24= 36
in the end, number of boys = 24 --> 3/4 of pupils remained in canteens
so, 1/4 of pupils --> 24/3 =8 --> 8 girls remained in canteen
36 - 8 = 28 girls left the canteen.

Fazillah, Linda and Winnie each owned a collection of comics. The total collection owned by Linda and Winnie was 3/2 as many comics as Fazillah owned. Linda owned 4/5 as many comics as the total collection owned by fazillah and Winnie. If Winnie owned 169 fewer comics then Linda, how many comics must Fazillah and Linda each give to Winnie in order for the three :? gilrs to have same number of comics?
