Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools
-
Besides er, manipulating your registration address, I think you should consider the actual logistics involved for your son. If you actually live in Braddell, which school would be easier to get to for him? Would you consider other schools near Braddell, eg Maris Stella, which is also a Catholic boys' school?[/quote]
thank you bigdevil, nemofc and beanstalk
i'm doing a crash course here! i'm actually more keen in ACS jnr. my 2 nephews are already in there now and i think they got in thru 2C as they stay around the area. they were lucky!
i need adv on digesting the past info on balloting history to have a better idea on what our chances are in enrollment using the address we have which is less than 1km from the sch. i dont really know how to read the info on the charts.
if our chance is high, we'll go for it. sji jnr is really choice 2. i've checked maris stella (many thanks for the recommendation!) but this is gonna be the same situation as sji jnr? cos we are more than 2km away and go in at an earlier phase as catholics rt? their website seem to give a rather good impression of the sch as compared to sji jnr. maybe we can also consider this as choice 2
anyone has anything to share abt maris stella?
most importantly, can some helpful parents help on balloting history on acs jnr?
this site is really good
i shld recommend other friends to join! -

based on history,What about Marymount and Kuo Chuan, not within 1km can?
At 2C, KCPPS needs balloting for those staying 1-2km.
At 2C supplementary, there are still vacancies for Marymount. -
Thanks, Careermum, for your sharings and input. Will it help if I do PV for St Nich?
Careermum:
Hi Angelight,
St Nic, phase 2C within 1km also need to ballot, so if stay beyond 1 km, don;t even stand a chance.
Ai Tong, so far within 1km & 2km need to ballot, Within 1km usu don't need to ballot, but sometimes need if oversubscribe.
These 2 are more popular, so can still try your luck at the balloting box if you are staying within 1km.
Marymount, so far 2C no need to ballot even for those staying >2km.
Kuo Chuan sometimes >2km need to ballot. -
Thanks zeemimi! But what is the diff betn 2C and 2C Sup?

2C is open to those ineligible for earlier phase. If unsuccessful at 2C, then will be 2C supp. -

Of course doing PV will put you in phase 2B, and if within 1km, your chance is higher. Thanks, Careermum, for your sharings and input. Will it help if I do PV for St Nich?
But try to be within 1km. There are parents who did PV, but due to oversubscription, not even get to ballot if those <1km applicants are more than no. of vacancy, ie do PV for nothing.
Also, sch now take very few PV, as they need to control no. so as not to disappoint too many PV who got balloted out. Sch can only control no. of PV, but the sch won't know how many church members & grassroot volunteer will turn up on application day.
So you have to quickly call the sch if you want to be PV. -
Ok, thanks Careermum. Thanks zeemimi!
