Just like having a mobile phone or any other material possessions, I think it is for parents to educate the child about the unnecessary need to keep up with the Joneses. It is unimportant who's using iPad 2 and who's using ipad 3. We won't be embarking on the purchase of iPad 2 as my boy has readily agreed to use our existing iPad 1. The device, afterall, is supposed to aid and facilitate their learning.
Maybe am paranoid. If some classmates have iPad3 which is trendier & faster, surely those having iPad2 would feel sour.happypie:

the school/apple said the device would not be upgraded by them after 2 years. -
Here is the comparison between NCS offer & Apple Shop - http://i1238.photobucket.com/albums/ff491/Zhang_Yingjia/ba1906bb.jpg.
The image is too wide to be posted.
Sorry it's a bit unclear. -
Tays:
Maybe this is to prevent people from abusing the insurance. The $118 is for 2 yrs wty only (no insurance), my experience with Apple is FOC replacement (no question asked) within the wty period if it is not due to self negligence.
NCS did mentioned that they will consolidate the demand to purchase insurance & will quote accordingly to the demand. She also mentioned that there will be a access, for eg. $500, just like car insurance.
Personally, I don't think insurance is necessary. Wty is more important.
Perhaps the insurance for the device (iPad2 and then iPad3; only one item at a time) can last for 6 years as I foresee that we would strongly encouraged to upgrade 2 or 3 years down the line especially if we purchase iPad2 which will become out-dated once iPad3 rushes to the market. -

Glad to hear that.
Honestly, dh and I have none of these i items! As adults, we can withstand these differences but unsure about our dd. However, it is time to let her learn. Afterall, how are we going to continue keeping up with the Joneses? -
Year 2 parents will have ipad briefing on 13 Jan at 6:30pm and need to place the order by 19 Jan. Not too sure if I can delay the ordering for my Y1 kid’s order by then. Would like to find out more before ordering as I need to buy 2 sets and it’s really a pain. Seriously I don’t understand why can’t the school wait for ipad3 then we can purchase ipad2 at cheaper price. Anyway they only need ipad2 at end of term 1 which is end March.

Yup.
I intend to buy iPad3 though price is still unknown.
What is delaying a few months as compared to 6 years of education in RV? -

Agreed. Especially since the P said there is no compulsion to join in, then what's the harm delaying by a term.Itaniwa:

The principal recently asked students who scored D7 and below for their HCL O Level to leave the school, as we all know D7 is a pass according to MOE standards, the principal has been very unfair as to have done such a thing to the students. He even asked them to write an appeal letter in Chinese to persuade him to let them stay. Those who scored C5/6 were no better as they were required to write a letter to tell the principal to let them keep their 4H2.

DS said that his usual way of talking to them. The part about making them leave is to put some shock factor into them.

I think standard in RV is higher since it is a SAP school. Probably that is why promo criteria include at least a B4 for HCL.
