Are you guys sending your kids to any enrichment classes?

My DD2 just started phonics yesterday.
But she seems quite lazy lor... :slapshead:

I still in 2 minds whether to put ds2 thru a English program or a phonics reading program!! *can't decide!*
Like mummy of 3, i also just started my DS on phonics class. As he still cannot really read, I prefer a more structured method of learning.
In my opinion, ICR, ICL, montessori phonics.. provides a more systematic way of learning phonics, word building/blending so as to aid them in their reading ability.
But then again, different kids learn differently.. most imptly they must enjoy the lessons & teacher so that they are willing to learn and thus absorb faster. :boogie:

Hi,

My boy is also a '07 piggy, going P1 in 2014.
I'd like to know wat are the odds to get in to Holy Innocence Primary or Maris Stella, under Phase 2B (catholic). Anybody can share?
Hi zannymom,

My little piglet is going to Maris Stella in 2014 cos i managed to ballot in his older brother!

Balloting was a stressful experience so pls have 'backup' plans.

Our ballot was via 2B (Catholic) and more than 2km type.

I’m staying in Bedok North. My son is born in Dec 2007.

Am trying for Temasek Pri. Donno if eligible for Red Swastika although we’re within 1km. Called up sch and admin said that one parent must be of Chinese race before allowed to register child. Fair?

You should ask them where in the MOE guidelines say this!!

Hi vicki
ICR, Lcentral & Montessori phonics are among my choices but eventually I choose Montessori phonics because of few factors...
1) Still prefer the structured method of Montessori teaching (in awe of Montessori) - I thk my DS needs that cos he still cant read well.
Since my DS has no opp to attend Mont kindergarten, this is the closest he can get. 🕺

2) Hv a chance to speak to the Montessori teacher (before signup) who is really down-to-earth and passionate abt teaching. My DS likes her very much too. Hard to find teachers like her these days.

3) Logistics & timing wise are good for me, convenient and near. :rahrah:

nettie:

last year June is an exciting and kan cheong year for me to reg my boy for P1. I guess next year i wont feel that kinda of excitment...

Well, i am still thinking of ACS phase 2B (out of 2km) for next year reg.. 😞

Hi nettie, if your elder boy is in ACS now, your younger boy would be phase 1 for siblings. You mention phase 2B for your younger boy for next year reg, so older boy is not in ACS and you are opting for them to be in different schools? How come? 😄

My boy is not in ACS now, last yr i din even get to ballot as i am out of 2km for P2B.

yes i am opting them for different school if my boy cant transfer to ACS in P3. 2 reasons:

1) Cos ACS is a single session school, my DS1 will be in the AM when he is in P3 but DS2 will be in PM session for P1 in same school.

2) I prefer a all boys school.

mmmm........
