Like mummy of 3, i also just started my DS on phonics class. As he still cannot really read, I prefer a more structured method of learning.
In my opinion, ICR, ICL, montessori phonics.. provides a more systematic way of learning phonics, word building/blending so as to aid them in their reading ability.
But then again, different kids learn differently.. most imptly they must enjoy the lessons & teacher so that they are willing to learn and thus absorb faster. :boogie:

Hellos - can i know which program did you sign him up for? As in ICR or Lcentral etc? Txs.

      Hi vicki
ICR, Lcentral & Montessori phonics are among my choices but eventually I choose Montessori phonics because of few factors...
      1) Still prefer the structured method of Montessori teaching (in awe of Montessori) - I thk my DS needs that cos he still cant read well.
Since my DS has no opp to attend Mont kindergarten, this is the closest he can get. ๐Ÿ•บ

      2) Hv a chance to speak to the Montessori teacher (before signup) who is really down-to-earth and passionate abt teaching. My DS likes her very much too. Hard to find teachers like her these days.

      3) Logistics & timing wise are good for me, convenient and near. :rahrah:

          nettie:

last year June is an exciting and kan cheong year for me to reg my boy for P1. I guess next year i wont feel that kinda of excitment...

Well, i am still thinking of ACS phase 2B (out of 2km) for next year reg.. ๐Ÿ˜ž

Hi nettie, if your elder boy is in ACS now, your younger boy would be phase 1 for siblings. You mention phase 2B for your younger boy for next year reg, so older boy is not in ACS and you are opting for them to be in different schools? How come? ๐Ÿ˜„

My boy is not in ACS now, last yr i din even get to ballot as i am out of 2km for P2B.

yes i am opting them for different school if my boy cant transfer to ACS in P3. 2 reasons:

          1) Cos ACS is a single session school, my DS1 will be in the AM when he is in P3 but DS2 will be in PM session for P1 in same school.

          2) I prefer a all boys school.

          mmmm........

                Thanks for the info, tankee.

Sobโ€ฆ Guess NCPS Phase 2B is not for me. Will try to find schools with in house student care centre in Hougang/Sengkang/Ang Mo Kio and pray their PV still open for 2007 kiddos.

My DS1 will be registering for P1 in 2013 for 2014 intake!

Weโ€™ve decided on NYPS, but Iโ€™m having 2nd thoughts now.

Feel like registering him at the nearest school for convenience, then do the pushing at coaching at home.
Then, feel bad that if my DS donโ€™t go to NYPS, Iโ€™m doing a disservice to my future grandchildren!

                  Sigh

no need to think - just go for NYPS.

next time, your grandchildren will hug you and Thank you grandmother, for giving them a lovely legacy present. ๐Ÿ˜‚

                    dun think anymore.

Haha! You are also like me. I am an old student from NYPS but i also decided that my DS goes to ACS which is nearer to our home. Likewise i also feel bad but i really can't tahan the long distance that my child needs to travel for the next 6 yrs of primary school. At the end of the day i just don't want my child to stress more but to love going to school without getting tired. After recharge, still can do other stuff. That is most practical thing to do.
