Augmum:

that 's why distance fr school is a Major consideration when choosing a sec school,
Esp those who needs to take public transport, cant even have the opportunity to sit down and rest during the journey home.
Parents with kids in IP sec schs would know how Terribly tired these kids are after a day in sch.
..plus they still need to walk at least 15 mins from the school to the nearest MRT station.. :scared:

New to the forum!

My DS just accessed the CCA registration website but was confused why there's no selection for sports? Told him to check with seniors or teacher tomorrow...CCA registration closes tomorrow, 11 Jan at 10pm!
I think for sports CCA, school will make the selection (instead of letting the student choose). Which is probably why they've got sports trials these 2 days..

Help!

How to do these questions?
3+4+5+6......+200=
10+12+14+16+......+400=
TIA.
200+3 = 203, also
199+4 = 203,
198+5 = 203, etc etc.

Which means you should have (200-2)/2 = 99 sets of \"203\"
Hence answer is 99x203 =20097.

Likewise for 2nd series,

400+10 = 410, 398+12=410, 396+14=410, etc etc.

Which means you should have (400-8)/(2x2) = 98 sets of \"410\"
hence answer is 98x410 = 40180.

(PS: similar question had come out in PSLE maths exam. Can't remember which year though)

Mum_sugoku, it's ok, my DS also told me not to inform the forum about his class!!!

:thankyou: I suspect he's worried that I'll bad-mouth him in the forum lor, haha.

ha ha same here my DD also very scared I join PSG or joining the forum. They do not wish to be famous in school, humble Dunmanians.
More like they are \"thin-skinned\" (č„ļįšŪ薄) lor :rotflmao: - Just joking, ya agree that Dunmanians are generally quite humble and down-to-earth.

:thankyou:
You are welcome, carebear 😄

Incidentally this question (with a slightly different set of no. series) is actually quite \"notorious\" bec on the year that it appeared in PSLE maths, many students found the paper so tough that some (>1) parents actually wrote to ST Forum to complain about it- citing this question as 1 example  . ST later followed up with an article on that \"killer\" paper - complete with solutions to the \"tough\" questions, including this one.. And that's how I get to know how to do it.. :boogie:

Hi,

Any of your dd/ds signing up for the spore math Olympiad?

What if the training sessions clashes with the CCA? Is it ok to miss CCA during those timing?

But shouldn't it be teachers selecting the participants for maths Olympaid? Anyway when I asked DS, he said he never heard his teacher mentioned anything on this..
