      hquek,

Care to share the charges of the private coach? Male or female? Just to want to have a backup plan if the current swimming school keep changing coaches.

I like the Singaporean young coaches. They helped my son swim well. I put him in APS as my own swim techniques are of poor quality. They have raised my son’s standards.

My neighbour’s son, after swimming for a few years in APS has just left. He was under the PRC coaches, who were just there shouting swim swim but does not correct the errors in the strokes. So his father says, waste of time.

As a beginner, I say, go for APS.

They teach good strokes and techniques.

Foreign coaches are there to coach, not teach.

If you are in the team, you need little correction on your strokes.
If you need correction on your strokes, you should not be in the team.

If you need to improve your strokes for competitions, there are the competitive teams.
You can pay for individualised sessions with coaches anywhere. Need not go to swim schools.

                    Hi Wolfgirl,

we should take the feedback of Kodomosuki, Westie33, Titank,Hquesk and others, as very beneficial. They were speaking the reality and their experiences, which I have learnt and then preempt in the swimming classes.

I have personally seen the team swimmers, and some of them have deplorable swim techniques, which if not corrected, will place them at the losing end of competitions. Hence, it is important that coaches and teachers and instructors, scrutinise every student’s strokes, breathing techniques, movement techniques, final dash techniques, etc, and correct them before it is too late for the potential Olympic swimmers.

Hence, all who teach/coach/instructs must do their jobs well.
I am not an APS staff (just in case I am promoting too much of the school), but just an ordinary parent who saw some good works done by the APS staff. But in any organisations, there are bound to be a few bad elements.
