carebear:
Went to Ah Gek along East Coast Road.

Bought lots of goodies.
Rather disappointed.
Pineapple tarts, hay bee popiah, mini egg roll, flat love letters and bee hive.
All except the bee hive fall below my expectation.
I find them average only.

Hay bee popiah the best is at the old airport road hawker centre- the stall that sells keropok....the hay bee popiah is delicious.
Was at East Coast today and can't find Ah Gek leh... in the end, went to Bakewell and bought their pineapple tarts and kueh bang kit which were recommended by Simply Her magazine. The keuh bangkit was melt-in-mouth type.

Cham lah.... don't know how to fit in cny clothes at the rate i am gorging on cny goodies now
:nailbite: šŸ˜“

Ah Gek is next to 49 East Coast Road Katong Laksa, just opposite Roxy Square.
They did not have a sign board.
If you go into the shop, then you will see the name.
Sigh....I should have stuck to Glory's goodies.
Looks like the goodies will be left to rot.
But at least, I might get to fit into my CNY dress! šŸ˜‚

I quite like them. The pastry melts in your mouth an the filling is not too sweet. The individual portions are not too big either, so you don't ingest that many calories! I think I'll get more.

Every year I also buy from Le Cafe to give to my parents and in laws. I personally don't like them that much, coz I find the individual portions too big! Too jelak. But it's impressive to behold, and the old folks like them.
I have bought a bottle of Nonya brand rolled pineapple tarts from NTUC at $10.90 if I remember correctly.

They are really good

Is it NOYA? I couldn't find the Nonya brand... except for one that said Nonya pineapple tarts (Ampor). But Nonya Ampor was $11.50 for 500g leh.

Addoi :slapshead:

Sorry lah friend, just checked with MIL, indeed the brand name is NOYA. $10.90 (if my memory serves me right), for 380g. And it's the rolled ones.

:hugs:
itz ok... šŸ˜‚ I bought the Nonya Ampor one coz Made in Singapore lah but alas, it's quite dry. I will try the NOYA next time, once my DH finishes this ampor bottle.
