      Hi sand,

Thanks a lot for your sharing. Just wondering how you managed to apply 3 times (1 time in each of 3 years or re-submitted after rejection before deadline of application in one year)? I thought they would not review applications until the deadline and review all applications in one time.
Hi, I re-submitted after rejection. The 1st rejection letter came after 1 mth. I drafted another one with more details a few months later and resubmitted. This time took more than 3 mths to reply so for awhile I was hopeful. Initially wanted to give up writing in but after speaking to a PV friend and teacher friend and becoming more aware of the requirements, I decided to try One Last Time. This happened quite a long while after the 2nd rejection cos ego was still bruised. I finally submitted my last try, thinking 'At least I've tried my best la'! All these took place within 1.5 years.

This time I did not include nitty-gritty info eg decorating in school functions, school learning journeys, after school 'baby-sitting', road marshalling, enrichment classes...basically things any other parents can also do...(which the current students' parents are already volunteering)..I wrote about my forte, what I currently specialise in my work, in much more specific details, macham writing proposal/ resume and presenting to top CEOs. I also did not include anything about my hubby since he really wont be keen to do it anyway.

Like I say, this is quite based on demand at the right timing and it changes from time to time.

Current/ Past PVs, please contradict me if I've written anything inaccurate ok? My experience may be very very different from others but I'm just sharing based on my limited knowledge and general experience...

I supposed for on-going and predictatable school programmes, the P can consider and review all applications in one time. But for ad-hoc prog that the school needs help quite soon, it makes sense to consider based on schools’ needs. Eg if, after reviewing this year’s prog, a Dept Head needs help for next Jan’s prog, they’ll prob need to activate willing PVs this year ya?

I really can’t tell what the selection process is like. But I think like most schools, the sch leaders usu plan for new/ renewed programmes around this time of the year, for next year’s planning. May be tt’s why the cut-off date is usu end of the year, so the P can choose. To know really what help the school needs, you might prob need to speak with the teachers of staff of the school.

          Hi all,

I have just submitted my PV application to Nan Hua. 🙂
Accordingly to their website, they will respond in 7 days acknowledging receipt of application.

Any idea based on your experience - when they will revert with the application status? Or has anyone walk-in to talk to the principal?

I only know that foreigners are eligible in P3 so do not have any chance to get into Nan Hua...
As for PV in NHPS, do not know whether they accept foreigners anot... U may apply and try your luck...

                    MOE guideline:-

                    i) for SG citizen and PR, they can apply for primary school, under phase 1 or 2A to 2C Supplementary.

ii) for foreigner, can apply school under phase 3:-

                    http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/phases/

No, there is no exam - on orientation day for P1 held at year end Nov / Dec. On P1 orientation day, it is for pupils to get to know who are their classmates (30 pupils per class) and know who are their form teachers.

however once school re-open in P1 Term 1 January 20XX, form teachers have their own ways & method to gauge a pupil's proficiency in (english & maths). For the purpose of identifying weaker students, so as to help them catch up quickly with school work, not left behind in class. Usually by end of P1 Term 1, pupils would have been identified.

                    for instance:-

                    - if a child is weak in english (example: a child can't read simple sentences like 'a fat cat sat on a mat'), teachers will pull out that child to attend LSP (English) - ie. Learning Support for English.

                    - likewise, if a child is weak in maths (example: child face difficulty in counting 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 to 10 properly), teachers will pull out that child to attend LSP (Mathematics) - ie. Learning Support for Maths.

LSP is conducted in small groups - ratio is 1 teacher to maximum 4 to 6 students per group.
objective maintain small size is for teacher to pay sufficient attention to each child, inside that small group.
