You are too kind - I am just doing for others what many others have already done for me.

Panic tends to rise as the year progresses, so one of things I did after Term 1 ended [ ie during the March hols] was that I consolidated what I had for DD to do in terms of materials to go through, papers to complete and did not source for anymore material - I decided to work with what we then had and no more.

I know this might sound sacrilegious in this forum, but I also stopped visiting the KSP forum regularly to (a) focus on the work we had at hand (b) keep to the strategy I had designed [since flitting from one method of revision to another meant that I saw little fruit as there had been insufficient time spent on any one method ]and (c) keep the panic at bay [ when you are a PSLE parent, especially when you suspect that your DC is not keeping up, there is a tendency to sign up for every workshop, buy every assessment book recommended, print every worked question to go through, compare with every other parent's experience in this forum....]

Much, much better to focus your energies on your child's well-being as they work - hugs and kisses and lots of praise for efforts made, running the race alongside of them and cheering them on

Some papers have...

(1) spelling mistakes
(2) ambiguous questions

Schools like Nanyang, Tao Nan and Rosyth have very difficult Math questions. We do these FIRST and use them to learn with in a low stress context, way way way before exams. We leave the easy Math exams (e.g., MGS and CHIJ) for just before exams to build confidence and drill for speed.

ACS has very good English papers. One particular comprehension question and passage stood out for me in the subtlety of thought required for inference (and yet the question was not ambiguous). For English, we only do ACS and leave the rest. For Science, RGPS has highly thoughtful questions with multiple answers sometimes. Just this one paper alone teaches a lot about the thinking processes/skills required for Science. No need to do all.

Dear psle2011mum

Thanks for your tips on typing out the OE compre passage and marking the annotations on the typed document I tried this once and DD said it was very useful and wanted me to do the same in future. I am fine to put in efforts to do it now for practice. But do you think she would be so reliant on this method that it would not be practical when working on the actual paper in future? Are you able to share your friend’s DC’s experience? Thank you for your advice and generous tips once again and may God bless you and your family.
PS. By the way, I bought the Oxford books on English strategies and found them extremely useful, thanks for the recommendations!
Dear all - anyone has experience to share on topics covered for Maths? Within less than 2 weeks, DD school already covered 2 topics, algebra and fractions. Really like speed 5, no time to breathe.

I concur with mother777. It would really help those of us who are new to doing annotations. I’ve never used this method for any of my own studies when I was younger myself so I’m also struggling to imagine what it would look like.

With more and more homework coming in and with his crazy training schedules and supple class, my DS can only gets to bed mostly at 11pm. He will be lucky if he can make it to 1030pm ;(
