I thk the 'challenging' part is prob cos gotto study for those ting xie, mo xie bah.

For Berries, I feel there materials are quite 'challenging' for the preschool level.

Anyone else has experience in these 2 to share?

      Txs! 🙂

        vicki:
        Hi ILoveChubby,

My ds1 is currently in both TH n Berries for a year liao! I feel both are good in different ways so up to now, I still keep him on both.

Personally I feel that TH is more 'tuition' whereas Berries is more 'enrichment'! TH has ting xie, mo xie whereas berries is more enrichment homework!

Heehee... I haven't 'tekan' ds2 aka piggy in this way yet... Let's see how his Chinese goes b4 I decide on it! 🙂
        Hi vicki!
I thk you are one of the rare gems that put your DS in both berries & TH!!.... You will be in a vv good position to be commenting at the thread \"Berries vs TH\"...
Ya tts why alot of pple say berries is better for preschoolers/lower pri..

btw i thk our DS1 & DS2 are of the same ages... :imcool:

          hi Power Puff,

for English - you can try \"Read in a week\". They follow a systematic curriculum.

every child is different, unique. i had a friend whose daughter spent 2 Terms in \"I Can Read\". but her girl still can't read. Last Nov my friend switch her over to \"Read in a week\". Now her girl has improved
          http://readinaweek.com.sg/

for Chinese - if yr son don't like Berries, you may try Zhi Ying. They play games as they flash cards & teach kids in a fun manner, help them recognize Chinese vocabulary fast. perhaps you can try 1 Term Zhi Ying, see his response. Many kids love Tao laoshi. She is good, bec she knows how to engage the kids, connect to children.

besides Zhi Ying, you may also try Yuquan.
1.5 hrs is a long time for K1 / K2 kids. Kids can't pay attention so long.
Teacher let them play games - like hide some Chinese character underneath the table, under a chair. Ask them close their eyes, count to 10. Open up their eyes, search for hidden cards. They quickly run around class, collect as many cards as possible. Read aloud the Chinese Han zi on the cards. Who can read most - teacher reward them with more stars!

                  Hi micollh,

Yup - i agree with MintyMin. For my piggy class, which he took since N1, i think the 'dropout' rate is at most 2 parents - so - the waitlist pple generally didnt manage to join.

Also, i think K1 is a good year to start the class before he progresses on to K2 (the syllabus for K2 is quite 'difficult' i feel).

                  Should enquire now!! 😄
