SP Mum, the only text book she brings home is Chinese. Other than that, all books are kept in the locker.
Think the teacher is quite mindful about them having heavy bags hence most of the books are kept in sch. Will bring back worksheets to do.
How’s your DD getting along? Asked my DD to befriend yours and I think she did talk to her on a few occasions. -

Hi Gorilla. I just logged on after a long absence. Noticed that you're facing the same problem as I did previously. Where do you live? I live in Pasir Ris and I managed to get the school bus to pick up & send my daughter home.michyms, oh wow, that's very nice of her to give out her mobile number. DD's form teacher only gave email and office number in the welcome note.
My godpa is helping me to send her till my cousin gets his taxi next mth
Yes, it's a load off my mind. At least she could eat lunch at a proper time rather than at 10am in the morning! -
gorilla, its good that your daughter will eat porridge for lunch. Mine takes lunch at 10.45am, and sometimes all she eats is a granola bar and a glass of soy milk… I give up forcing her to eat a real lunch. There’s no point in as everyone gets upset. For recess, I also pack her a snack like muffins, cakes or bread. Her feedback is that the queue for the food stalls are very long so no point trying to buy food unless she wants to spend whole recess queuing…

Hi fmastuki,
I live in Yishun. There’s a school bus but the problem is she’ll need to spend 1.5hrs in the bus. She’s the 1st to be picked up although her caregiver’s place is on the ‘outer part of Yishun’. If you’re familiar with Yishun, caregiver’s place is near Khatib which the bus starts and moves to Yishun central then comes back to Khatib again before proceeding to sch. Tried talking to the bus operator about the route but all I get it ‘it’s like that one lah’.
Was hopefully the 2nd bus operator could give a better timing but too bad they backout last minute. -
michyms, a granola and a glass of soy milk, that's too little for lunch, can't sustain her till recess. Does she take breakfast? If yes, may be timing too close hence she's not hungry for lunch.
My girl is picky so all she buys from canteen is milo, choc milk and cereal. Hence we pack snack for her. Anyway, when we pick her in the evening, will pack rice for her so she eats her dinner in the car on the way home

gorilla, that is the problem. She has a fairly good breakfast (one muffin and one piece of cake or two pieces of bread + milk) at 8.30am and 10.45am is too early for lunch. But I am not inclined to wake her up earlier just to eat as she is tired from afternoon school, so I will leave it. She seems fine till recess though. Also the drinks stall at the canteen has the shortest queue, so my dd buys drinks once in a while… wow, u pack rice? Is it homecooked or from outside? Mine gets home at 7.10pm, showers and may even do her homework before dinner at 8ish.

michyms, no wonder she doesn't eat much for lunch since her breakfast looks heavy. Think my DD skips breakfast cos she usually wakes up around 9+ 10. If she eats breakfast, it's usually just a pc of toast with milo or choc milk.
It's homecooked. Hubby will collect the rice from my caregiver's place before picking DD from sch. 8+ for dinner, think will be too late for DD. May be that explains the difference in size, your DD and mine!

Hi Gorilla. I'm pretty familiar with Yishun. The arrangement is almost similar to my daughter's. I was quite worried as to how it will affect her initially but she's adapted very well since last year.Hi fmastuki,

She's the first to be picked up at 10.50am and the last to be dropped off at 7.30pm. I think she's adjusted well to this arrangement. We feed her brunch at about 10am and packed her some snacks or sandwitches, which she normally keeps it for her return journey home. The brunch is sufficient to fill her till her recess time.
For me, I'm super thankful that there's a bus operator that wants to ply this route as there were none before this and I'm fortunate enough to have a bus driver that is so reliable. He'll call my wife or myself to remind us if there's any single session, etc. He even told off some of the P2 girls who were teasing/bullying my daughter and reported it to the ops mgr of the school when it persisted. Everything's cool now and my girl enjoys her ride to & from school.
I hope your daughter will be able to adjust to this schedule well. Give it ssome time and it should be OK I reckon. -
Hi fmastuki,
Glad to hear that your DD has adapted well to the sch bus. Her pick up time is almost the same as my DD and I believe Yishun is much nearer than Pasir Ris. I was also a sch bus rider and was picked up at an ungodly hour of 5:30am!
You’re lucky to have a good and reliable driver. The same can’t be said of the bus rider that picks my DD. My DD told me she’s the only one who belt up and the girls walk freely in the bus. Even the bus aunty was not nice! My daughter tried to tell her she was cold (she wasn’t feeling well) but she simply ignored her. My daughter only took the bus on the 1st day and already came home telling me about P2 ‘verbally bullying the P1’. As such, we decided on the alternative transport which will costs us more but at least I’ll have peace of mind. -

Gorilla, my dd eats alot of cakes/muffins (which I bake), but the fats seem to disappear :rotflmao: Its great she gets a home cooked dinner :rahrah: then what do you and your hubby do for dinner? Does your dd's caregiver also cook dinner for you both?michyms, no wonder she doesn't eat much for lunch since her breakfast looks heavy. Think my DD skips breakfast cos she usually wakes up around 9+ 10. If she eats breakfast, it's usually just a pc of toast with milo or choc milk.

Didn't know that some school buses are so terrible! I took the ride on day 1 with my dd and the primary twos all seem fairly friendly and welcoming.
