This qustion is tricky to me. Pls help. Thanks

Initially Joshua the millionaire had 5 cars and 10 motorcycles. Then he bought more vehicles. He bought some vans and bicycles. There are now 95 vehicles and 260 wheels. how many cars, motorcycles, vans and bicycles are there now?
      Hi

Solve the 2nd part of the question as \"cows and chickens' type of question to find number of 2 wheeler & number of 4 wheeler. The difference with the original number will give the number of bicycles (2 wheeler) and vans (4 wheeler).

      Number of 2 wheeler in the end = (95x4-260)/2 = 60,
      so number of 4 wheeler in the end = 95 - 60 = 35

      Number of vans bought = 35-5 = 30
      number of bicycles bought = 60 - 10 = 50

      cheers.

            Hi all advisors,

need some help in this question.
I have some sweets. If I pack them in groups of 5, I will have 3 extra sweets. If I pack them in groups of 8, I will have 7 extra sweets. What is the min number of sweets do I have?
I used the following method and i got 23 but the answer key is 63 using the same method. why 63 and not 23?

            Method :
            x5 : 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30
            ----------------------------
            +3: 8, 13 , 18, 23, 28, 33

            x8: 8, 16, 24
            -----------------
            +7: 15, 23, 31

            any advise?

                      Hi

While waiting for the arrival of ่ดข็ฅž, Iโ€™ll try to give some pointers for drawing the MD.

Draw 7 boxes to show the number of adults and 3 boxes to show the number of children.

                      So weโ€™ve 4 boxes ------ 184 and hence 1 box ----- 46

                      (a)Number of children ----- 46*3 ----- 138

For the second part of the question, draw 5 boxes to show the number of boys and 1 box to show the number of girls.

Number of boys ----- 5 parts
Number of girls ----- 1 part

                      6 parts ----- 138
                      1 part ------ 23

                      4 parts ----- 23*4 ----- 92

(b)There are 92 more boys than girls.

PS ----- The boxes for (a) and (b) are of different measures and kinds, hence different sizes.

If you need the MD, please let me know.I'll do it at a later time.

Wishing everyone in KSP, a very Happy and Prosperous Chinese New Year.

                      Best wishes
