transformer2020:
so far never heard of asking students' donation via ORA, oso never heard of any amount on any kid's shoulder
diudiu, really expert on RI. much appreciated to clear my doubts. but still not quite clear on your answers:diudiu:
a. Nah, like all the other parents have said, RI does not ask students for donations. Though an exception is the yearly ORA Day where students will be given a card to ask for donations from their family/friends. ORA Day was cancelled last year but should be back this year.
b. Its the most expensive secondary school in Singapore, not taking into account the international schools.
for a. for this ORA Day, is there any compulsory amount put on kid's shoulder? what happen if the kid does not raise up the required amount? does this amount disclose under kid's name, or anonymously? quite worry the psychological effect on kids?
for b. besides the 300+35 monthly fee, any other fee the school will charge? all CCA are chargeable? on average, how much expense for a kid in talent class, including common required study packages imposed on the class?
another separate question is:
- how many pupils in their class - talent one, and normal one?
- the school teachers is female dominated or male dominated?
sorry so many question but need to plan better for my kid
you got very funny \"information\" hor
I have friends who are ORA members, RI teachers, PTA members, and I do take part in fund raising activities for various schools, including RI, amongst other schools - but NEVER got target amount for any one hor
please kindly inform your sources that you hear from me here - quote my name - no such thing as target amount
as for class size, it is 30
please read up on this thread on how students are mixed/allocated in RI.
as for staff gender ratio, take normal distribution, quite balance, or you can surf RI website and count the M vs F teachers .... -
you’ve never seen the ORA day donation card? lolol verykiasu2010 got super funny ‘information’ horh.
sorry, but the class size is not 30 anymore with effect from this year.superkiasu2010 where you get your this ‘information’ from one? class size is capped at 28 now for this year’s sec1s and sec3s. the other two batches still have 30per class.
by talent class you mean sports DSA class? if so there are two classes starting from this year’s batch of sec1s. the class size is capped at 15-16 per class. -

Sry to say tt u r too 杞人忧天(the man Qi fears the sky falling )if u r a Singaporean , u do not need to worry too much for the education fees . There r some of the financial assistance and Bursary schemes ... The Ministry of Education provides financial assistance to needy Singapore Citizen pupils in Government or Government-Aided Schools. It also provides subsidy for school fees to Singapore Citizen pupils from lower and middle income families in Independent Schools, except Singapore Sports School, NorthLight School, Assumption Pathway School and School Of The Arts which have their own financial assistance schemes.
Wish ur child get impressive grade for psle and get into his dream sch
All the best :rahrah: -

Aiyo, transformer.. your DS has not even joined RI, and you are already so worried about this and that.. Can't imagine what will happen when your DS really joined RI... :slapshead:

Ms Tay is right.. I also think you 想太多!If my DS' dream school is RI, I will encourage and support my DS, in all ways i can, to fulfill his dream.. I will not be bothered about the nitty gritty issues, like who pays for the CCAs at RI, must the boys take part in donation drives at RI, or even the ratio of male & female teachers at RI (I am still wondering how this can be a concern to parents?) etc.. If I want to worry, I will worry later lah, when my DS really got into RI...
From your previous posts, I get the impression that you feel that NUS High is a better school, in many aspects, than RI (your opinion only).. Then encourage your DS to join NUSH, so that you do not have to worry so much lor! -

Is your child in RI? If so, you should have received a comprehensive explanation of what the prog is all about.
It's a pull out prog which will enable the child to be exposed to more challenging math, and allows the child to participate in national and international competitions. (I feel it's something like math olympiad in primary school)
Those with psle T score of more than 265 and A* in math are eligible. Even then, if I didn't misread, those eligible need to go for interviews and tests (I suppose they want to sieve out the best and most deserving students).
The child is given the option whether to opt in or out. -
I did not see any information about the Galileo program - the note was for Euler right? As of now, still no circular on Galileo.

It did mention both Euler and Galileo on the first page. But the second page is an annex regarding Euler. There was no additional information about Galileo.Paddy Field:
