Woah, now can only try 2 CAFE CCAs, huh? Last time was 3 CCAs in CAFE year and only select at end of year 1.
They get to try 2 cafes, one sport and one aesthetic. In the first 2 terms. In the 2nd semester they choose the one they like and go for that.Dnls_mum:

So in one year, altogether they will try 4 CAFE CCAs? Apart from CAFE, is there any other CCA programs they can try??
If your child has an interest in any of the specific CCAs, can always go and try and ask to join permanently. But still need to complete the CAFE modules as it's part of the Year 1 programme. So anything the student joins would have to be IN ADDITION to CAFE.
I know in my DS' year there were some who joined school team in year 1, eg. in squash bc they were good and enjoyed it. ANd of course the CCA welcomed them although officially Year 1s shouldn't be joining any CCAs then until CAFE is completed.[/quote]
Thanks for the replies.
My DS takes Basket ball as CAFE. -

my son is in JH1. i don't think there is a need for your own personal laptop; certainly not to bring to school. the schools has pcs one can use. at home the home pc should be sufficient.Hi,

Do anyone know how the students are placed in different classes? Is it by balancing the sexes or CCAs or is there are some other criterion/criteria?

Hi fellow JH1 parents,
May I know have any one of you bought the recommended text books for IS? If yes, where and which bookshop to buy from?
Thanks so much. -

:thankyou: Just checked the list. We have 2 of them already :imcool: , 1 physics and 1 chem as DS1 uses them in SJI too. We ordered them directly from pan pac previously, but I'm sure you'll find them in Popular since they are common text books.Yep,it's in that IS science letter which they gave on the first day.I'm in JHl07 anyways.

Hi,
Did your teacher mention to buy all the recommended textbooks? Or which are the must buy or must read?
Thanks
