Was just about to pop a pineapple tart into my mouth but stopped in time. I think there should be a warning somewhere to tell people that some posts are really choking hazards.

        Phew. Thank goodness for that!

Lest we might hear of blended pineapple tart coming out from your nostrils.

        Choy ah choy!

I downloaded a few free comic ones but Ah Boy not interested as the themes are those Chinese classics, he says boring (even with the recorded playback).

limlim, or anyone else came across interesting ipad stories for potato kids, please share. Or like MyChildren suggested, split a new post about learning Chinese - hopefully can garner as good response as the learning Maths. We did start some discussions in the 'P5' section last year but no more updates.

PiggyLalala - if you are still reading this, your solution to the overlapping triangle is cool ! More like the unitary method. thanks.
Glad that you like the method. You are right.. it is more like the unitary method 🙂 This method is very useful and easy to understand. When i mentioned about solving simultaneous equations in my earlier post, it means solving simple simultaneous equations like the solution that i have posted. All the numbers involved should be whole numbers, no fractions or decimals. Ds1 solved almost all the problem sums on ratios, fractions and percentages using this method. All the best to yr ds's PSLE this year.

I was coaching my younger one on the importance of dwg models when my older one who did his psle in 2010 interrupted....

\"but math models are just a physical form of simultaneous eqns...\" :skeptical:

              Insider,

Cute & interesting article! But I still encourage my children to study smart and play hard and need to work in order to have meals at home (housework)!

Ya, most children are taught all days to study hard instead of learning to face problems in life and solve them. When they grow up and difficulties come, they may not be able to handle them themselves and not able to take setbacks easily.

              😉

responding to the subject title… I think both played a part. Parents may not be able to come up with the materials to coach, so enrichment centers are useful in the sense there are ready materials & parents can reinforce at home especially for their preschoolers. Once in primary school, parents may be in sync with tedious science and maths syllabus so again, enrichment & tuition can relieve some load from parents. Ultimately, child must be motivated too. Otherwise no amount of parents coaching or tuition would help

:rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: Yeah... parents too!

But in our journey, I think my son worked a lot harder. I was only in charge for getting resources and generating crazy ideas like Potato Chinese. But he still had to be open to trying... In fact, I didn't give a pontianak performance all of P5 (you know hair tearing, big time yelling...).

I did so 2 days back because he maintained that jogging everyday was a waste of time... and we've been arguing about this for about 6 months. I began to have visions of a fat potato son who would collapse and die in NS.

DS: I see no sense in...
Me: Youuuuuuuu see no sense in? Who are YOUUUUUUU to see no sense in? Have YOUUUUUU gone through NS before?

Blah blah blah... banshee + pontianak + Mother dragon

I think the whole street heard me.
