RJC the uniform for girls is white blouse and green skirt, isn’t it?

Is it a mandatory to stay in the hostel for a year?

            Choco05:

Haha i've made my appearance again.

What a child says is definitely right. PSLE score means nothing in RGS. Even if you are like the top scorer, there's equal treatment! Everyone in RGS is fantastic(that's why we are here~), so there's no different treatments!

RGS is a new chapter. They don't look at your PSLE score anymore. Who's going to ask for it when you are in JC? Nobody cares. It is really what you should do NOW, instead of what you did in the PAST. The past is the past!

Even someone like me from a neighbourhood school also made my way here. There really is no difference in GE and non-GE! A lot of non-GE students end up in GE classes too, so it really is fair opportunities for everyone. There also is no such thing as \"oh GE class!!! I shall appoint more prefects here.\" Everyone gets the same thing, regardless of how glorified your past is.

And the teachers who teach middle and end classes, i think they are the ones who really are good, and deserve praises. I mean, not everyone wants to do their job right? They have to keep watch on naughty students, try to teach them, try to improve their grades(aka average perf. of sch). It's no easy task, compared to the 1st few ones(who you hardly need to teach and they are alr kiasu+good enough).
            Well said, Choco! :celebrate: :celebrate:

Don't think there is space for local girls in the hostel. They are meant for foreign scholars.

                hi everyone! πŸ™‚

I understand from the above few posts several issues.

                1) sec1 parents fretting about the CCAs their daughters are getting into
I would just like to say that the CCA you are in doesn't really matter, its about how you make the best of the situation. I daresay there are many students who get slotted into CCAs they did not rank their 1st choice, but yet over time, they grow to love it. So really, its about going into the CCA with an open mind!

                2) the whole \"banding\" in RGS
To be honest, the rationale for banding into GE and non GE classes is simply because we learn differently- GE students enjoy more of class discussions and interactions with the teachers, while non GE students like lectures more! However after 2 years in RGS, both sides will kind of adapt and reach a compromise in terms of learning style, which is why, when you get to Sec3, there is only banding based on your subject combinations and whether or not you take a RA for convienience in timetabling. Of course, there will be 1 or 2 \"rojak\" classes, as there are bound to be people who do not take conventional combinations! Within ourselves, there are definitely comparisons- especially at EYAS: teachers will show the breakdown of average marks per class and all! πŸ™‚ but it doesn't really matter whethere you are in a \"good\" or \"bad\" class, because the teachers you get are equally good and so long as you work hard it'll be fine! πŸ˜„

                3) asking about leadership boards
I just wanted to say, will this all matter? 20 years down the road, you won't be selecting boyfriends based on whether or not he was a prefect/PSL right! πŸ˜„ I guess one thing I have to say to my juniors/ juniors parents- don't get overly caught up in the rat race! πŸ™‚ I guess all these may seem important right now, but just take a step back and look at the bigger picture. It is already an extreme privelege to be an RGS girl, so perhaps we should be grateful over that, and not moan over lack of leadership positions! I mean, I'm not stopping you if you have the passion to serve, to give back to the school, but if you're doing it just for your resume.... I urge you to consider why having a nice resume is so important to you!

Sorry if this post sounds harsh or whatever :x

Happy Lunar New Year everyone! πŸ™‚

                    Besides, why compare?

In my opinion, our girls are already in one of the top schools in the nation. That in itself is already a remarkable feat! πŸ˜‰
Well said! I remembered Mrs Hoo mentioned during Orientation.....not to compare with others but to compare with our better self. πŸ˜‰
