Mine here has slight dementia but strangely not the ‘wire’ regarding MONEY issues…that area is still very alert.

If you don’t like your SIL (ie, your BIL’s wife), and you have not been on talking terms for 14 years. How to start talking ?

I tried a few years back. But realised that she just concentrate on singing praises about her DDs (for eg, her DD still can’t talk at 3yo because she is very smart in her brain, she is quietly absorbing…etc .etc…), so I sian… and decided that I don’t need to listen to her brag…so I went back into my hole again.

But sometimes I do think that my no-talking to her problem may become a problem when my kids grow up…as in the cousins will not be close. But then, do I need them to be close ? But then, my kids will start wondering why I don’t talk to their Aunt…hmm…

Actually MIL is not helping…by playing favouritism towards BIL and her… So add on to the injury.

I choked on the part being smart and absorbent.. :faint: Normally it's considered opposite. Guess your SIL is trying to save face if not self-deceived. :? Now the topics with my SILs have moved on to higher level liao. My DS3 has booked his flat which is due to complete in 2 years' time. The 'scholar' mum knew and after checking around, pushed her 2 DS towards that direction a few months back. She wanted her 'scholar' (see other threads) to get married first and stay with her (at least temporary since he has just booked his flat) but he refused which I think his gf is against the idea. Her DS2 which is the same age as my DS1 broke off with his gf at the same time. Now it seems that my DS1 may be the first to get married and she's like :nailbite: She also wanted grandchildren as she's very traditional type but I may be the first to be a granny. :siao: On top of that, DS1 and his gf want me to move in with them and take care of their children so SIL is 😓 To play down the   DH sis who is her close chum come to her 'rescue' by saying that having children is not popular with the youngster now. I :siao: :faint: Like that also can :stompfeet: . :stupid:

Haha, sounds like my MIL on CNY morning....nothing to do go knock on neighbour's (German) door, asking if my niece wanted to play with the boy.
Then both BIL and I had to scramble to \"pau\" more angpows...mine is long story coz morning all close relatives so bigger ones in small bag....(that's the gist). SIL did not even bring out any to MIL's house so BIL had to scramble and \"borrow\" new notes :siao: ...and then MIL had the gall to ask \"must give one ah, how much to give ah?\" 🤷

Same rubbish when Counsin introduced her fiance at annual CNY dinner...good thing DH thinks along the same line as me and we are prepared....so embarrassing! And what I don't understand is MIL came and asked loudly - to DH \"how much you give ah?\". Must say he really takes the cake \"yi si yi si loh, it's your xin yi wha!!!\"

Me thinks if we compile MIL stories for CNY, we can publish a book  and it'd make the best-seller list for sure!

The old lady told me to wish her daughter on the phone...I 'disappeared' bcos I see no reason why I should give her rude daughter any face. Who cares. If she is not happy, come and talk to me...I will tell her why.

I asked hubby if he advised them to cut down on smoking and drinking...he said he has given up doing so...nothing he can do if they are so old and too stubborn to listen. 🤷 since he is the favourite son and they refused to listen, no one can do anything.

                    got story to share too…

MIL gave out ya shui money for all the kiddos after the reunion dinner. Then follow my SIL given out her ang pao, so i think it is also ok to give since just few hours apart.

Who knows after giving my BIL’s wife making such a loud noise that she is not preparing and y must give so early… I am kinda ‘WTH, attention seeker. Afraid ppl talk behind her back’…

I've a one kind MIL who gives different amount of Ang Pao to my 2 boys these few years. This is not the first time, few years back, she gave the stupid reason for my elder one in secondary school, needs more money. Then last year, my younger one was in Sec 1 and again he got lesser than his brother. This year the same old thing happened. She gave my younger one $4/- lesser! I just wonder why must she upset my younger boy showing favourism so obviously. Worst, my silly hubby also think nothing wrong with that. :stupid: :slapshead:
