RG is like a short form of RGS when people are lazy to say that one more syllable much like how some people say SC instead of SCGS, and SN instead of St Nicks, or SJ instead of SJI. etc etc. a very different matter with regards to the RI and RJ thing.

why Y4 chemistry practical must buy own test tubes? thought the chem lab is suppose to provide and what is the lab assistant doing the whole day? washing and cleaning laboratories apparatus is part of her/his job scope.

My Boy Studying in other Sec Sch Express Stream Also asked to buy Test Tubes in Sec 4 last year ....

Maybe this is an Easily Breakable Item, So instill a Sense of Responsibility to Take Care of own test tubes? Or Past Experience Shown tt too Many Test Tubes R Broken Carelessly?

The list of year 1 students selected for Math Olympiad training is out.

A total of 36 students altogether and equally represented by both the GEPper and non-GEPper classes. In fact, the most number of representatives comes from 108.

This ought to put to rest some parents' fears that only certain classes are given opportunities to shine. The truth is the opportunities are there, but then again, there are talents everywhere. So not being selected does not equate to no opportunities being provided.

Congratulations to the 36 girls and hope you do the school, your parents and yourselves proud!

I think the cost of the test-tubes is a very small price to pay in exchange for the life-long learning of responsibility (taking care of personal belongings) and independence (cleaning up after oneself).

Besides, there are more than 50 classes altogether and preparations for the experiments would keep the lab assistants very, very busy indeed.

If one is put on waiting list for one of the sports CCA but somehow still did not get in when the CCA posting is out, is there any room for appeal? Does anyone hv any past experience in this in past years?

Does raffles girls' secondary school offers SAT and AP tests to gain admission into ivy league colleges?

At the end of Sec 4, the school will encourage everyone to sign up for SAT, which will be held in January of JC 1. There is no subsidy (though you can apply for subsidy based on income I think?). As for AP I'm not so sure though.

And regarding to buying our own test tubes, it's actually because that the school test tubes are used by many people, and there may be possible traces of contaminants, which can interfere the results for the experiments, especially qualitative analysis, which is all about ppt... (and also because some people after using the school's test tubes don't clean them properly, and then just put them back into the tray, who knows?) So like it's much safer to just buy your own anyway, such that during practical exams you can be sure of your results:P

Anyway just want to ask where can you find the results of the CCA trials? Hehe I'm interested to see, but then apparently no one knows where it is (at least from my batch)

understand from DD that they are learning abt integers in class for math and that she is going to have a test on non-routine math questions in 5th week. Today, she came back with Math worksheet that covers combination and permutation among other topics. Appears to be coverage of math is wide and teacher in class may not cover topics in details. Now DH is her \"tutor\" for the time being...

I was wondering if the senior girls in this forum could advise whether there are any books/assessment books that DD can use as reference on her own ?
