Hi 8228, according to my dd, her math teacher told them that the previous students who chose to do \"break the code\" tend not to do so well... so she immediately puts a big cross over that topic 🙂

        8228:
For the Mathematics Alternative Assesment for P6, my ds intends to choose \"Break the Code\". Is this topic difficult or time consuming? His seond choice is \"Pigeon and Pigeon Holes\" or \"Statistics\". Any advice? TIA.

Does anyone know what Pigeon and Pigeon Holes are about? Is it difficult to do?

I think the teachers should provide more details before asking the pupils to make a choice. Now have to tikam tikam. If choose a very tough or time consuming one :stupid: :slapshead:

They were given the seven topics last Wed / Thurs and were told to submit the choice on Monday. Acording to ds, many picked Break the code because it looks fun to do (which ds did too). He did pigeon hole last yr as a project so he is not doing it again. I hv no idea what the rest of the topics are but my advice to ds was simple. Pick one which u will learn something new and interesting.

This morn DS told me he intend to choose \"break the code\" as he find it interesting! :yikes:

Advise him not to as it's very tough. His teacher said it will be guided but I explained to him his CCA schedule this year is very tight so if can, choose something simpler but still interest him. Dare not think now, just can only :xedfingers:

Without knowing the details, "break the code" sounds interesting to the kids. But I don’t want my ds to choose a topic which is too difficult or time consuming. This week alone, he has to submit ERP and SS portfolio.

Me 2 but I can't stop him if he insist. I can only give him advice, ultimately he is still the decision maker & doer. Just wait & see if he listened to my advice or not. 😉

There was some discussion last year on how difficult ‘break the code’ is and that even tertiary lecturers had problems solving it. Curious, I asked my dd which topic she chose to do during her time and she said ‘break the code’. Well obviously she didn’t come to me or my hubby for help because we didn’t even know which topic she chose. I asked her how was it. She said easy. And she solved it all on her own. The teacher offered no help either. I guess whether the topic is easy or difficult depends on the child and whether they ‘get’ that particular question. Just go ahead and let your child try something they’re interested in.

is ‘breaking the code’ a last letter generator?
