It's actually very easy to understand once you understand why MOE set such a policy. It is to deter pp from using false addresses. It isn't to stop pp from buying new homes. It's so sad that so many lacked the integrity and needed the govt to come up with such policies to stop them.

Exactly! Unfortunately there will always be people smart enough to find loopholes or ways to get around it and don't think that they are doing anything wrong.

If the child has interest, he / she can start learning basic from library books and online. There are educational software downloads available free for students. Eg. Auto desk http://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/all

      Hi,

What is the meaning of the \" in the Principal list\"? Are these these the specially selected students since Year 1 ?
If I remember correctly, it's the top 5% of each yr's cohort.

    • RE: Help! Scoliosis treatment at Precision Spine Chiropractic

U can bring her to the polyclinic to get a referral letter to see a specialist at KKH Children's Department. http://www.kkh.com.sg/Services/Women/OrthopaedicSurgery/Pages/Home.aspx

Fee will be subsidised. Alternatively, u can just call up for an appointment and pay private fees.

Depending on the degree of curvature and the age of your child, they would advice what can be done. Some wear the soft brace.

My dd has gone through Chiropractic treatment (not in Spore) and we don't find it useful. It's a long term treatment (2-3x a week) and rather expensive.

She used to swim daily in school but it doesn't help to correct the curvature. However, I am not sure that, if she didn't swim, would it have gotten worst.

Now at 15+, her height has stablised. Due to scoliosis, she would not grow any taller. I started her on Pilates so that she can maintain a better posture and also to prevent and aches/ pains in the future.

To me, having scoliosis is like having crooked teeth. One is born with it. Dd inherited from me. She has learned that it is something that affects many and she should not be upset/ embarrassed about it.

    • RE: My 6yr old girl with uneven shoulder

If it's posture problem, didn't the GP give some recommendations?

Encourage her to use backpack (loop over both shoulders) instead of messenger bags (sling on one shoulder). Monitor sitting and standing posture.

What kind of a brace are you referring to? The soft brace is only available through medical centre. It looks like this http://www.integratif.com.sg/scoliosis/article_kkh.htm but it's only meant for patients with scoliosis. It's better for you to seek a 2nd opinion from KKH Orthopaedic department if you are unsure.

If you have gotten a referral letter from the polyclinic (I am not sure about referral from GP) , fees at KKH will be subsidised.

I decided to go, just in case he didn't do well, it will be good to be there with him.

U should go. I think the teachers expect parents to be there too cos when I met one teacher in school 2 days ago, he said we will meet again next Thurs! 😉
