Anyone knows where I can get the results of this year's P1 registration, in particular, Jurong East area?

I visited the MOE website but it was indicated that the programme was over.

I studied in Jurong Pri. And so did my dad, uncles, cousins, etc.


In my graduating class (in the 1980’s), out of 44 students, more than 10 ended up in SAP schools Chinese High and Nanyang. Another 6-8 ended up in RI & RGS. So it was a very good kampong school in those days.

Now I hear standards have dropped but I’m sure the school would retain some of it’s academic excellence heritage in some ways. If you look at tha ranking by kiasuparents.com, it’s better than a lot of elite or branded schools out there.

If you want precise numbers, for 2008 registration,
Fuhua : Total=360, P1=114, P2A=13, P2B=0, P2C=81 (no ballot)
Jurong : Total=330, P1=162, P2A=31, P2B=16, P2C=144 (ballot 1-2km)
Yuhua : Total=360, P1=92, P2A=11, P2B=1, P2C=65 (no ballot)

No doubt as to which is the more popular one..

Well, seemed that Jurong is still a better choice after all.

Know what, my gal is due for P1 registration next year, and I'm thinking of shifting to Boon Lay area by next year!

Have browse through some of the threads and understood that Chief had mentioned to taymeister in his post this April that there's really not many good schools in this area, however, Rulang is the preferred choice.

Well, I am currently staying in Jurong East, so, while most parents will move to the area with better school but as for me, I'm running away from it! How silly I am! :lol:

Indeed many people are thinking to shift out of Jurong West/Boon Lay becos of the \"too many children\" in this area and your are thinking to shift in; Welcome Welcome

My experience - the popular schools in Jurong West/Boon Lay area - Rulang, West Grove & Jurong West Primary. Esp West Grove - this year under Phase 2C the balloting is 355 against 118 places! In fact, it was from this forum, that I came know to know a few mothers and we have gone thru the experience of balloting in West Grove!

my son graduated from Jurong Pri last year. For the whole school, about 10 pupils scored 270+ and highest is 279. They also produced a national top malay student (275). About 20 pupils scored 260-270. 15-20 pupils managed to enter the top sec schools: RI, RGS,NYGH and HCI. The rest entered RVHS, Nan Hua Sec, ACS (I) and St. Joseph Inst.


Nobody enrolled into RI, RGS and NYGH through DSA. 3 pupils enrolled into HCI through DSA (including my son). One girl DSA to RV.

Can not remember the passing rate but a bit better than national average. In terms of the high score students, they performed quite well.

Throughout the past 6 years, how do you feel about the school as a whole? Do you agree that some teachers are teaching more & some are teaching less? How about homework in general? Are there a lot? I wrote to the school asking how the selection of the top 3 classes are done. There was no reply. Do you happen to know the criteria & is the selection done yearly or just at P1 level? Are there differences in the subjects taught for the top 3 classes? For those who are selected in the top 3 classes, will they be move out to the normal classes if they do not performed well?

As a whole, I should say Jurong Primary is a fair good school above average. Academically, it definitely can not compare with Nan Hua, Rulang and maybe Westgrove but in par with Keming, Princess Elizabeth, De Lallsa, South View in Jurong, Bukit Batok, Choa Chu Kang and Clementi area.


Their top students scored quite high and they ever produced few national top pupils in early 2000. For the average students, they only performed at average level.

I do agree that some teachers are teaching more & some are teaching less. It happens in most of neighborhood schools. Same for JPS

For the homework, my son’s class only in P6 teachers gave " a lot of" HW. throughout P1-5, according to my son, he could finished all the homework within 1-2 hours so normally we forced him go to bed before 9:30 pm. even for P6, he spent a lot of time on computer gaming.

as I know, top 3 classes selection is only based on result and they will be moved out to the normal classes if they do not performed well. This process is done yearly. For my son’s batch, they only started such selection process since P4. In his P1-P3 years, all students equally distributed into 9 normal classes which I liked mostly. Students and their parents had no stress. I heard now the situation changed: the selection started since P2?

No much difference in the subjects taught for the top 3 classes. Seems they have math enrichment program in P5,P6 for some math competition. For HMT, they had higher chinese suplementry class in P5, P6.

The good thing to put kids in a neighborhood schools is: the expectation of kids and parents is not so high as those star schools so less stress.

Thanks for the update.

It’s true the selection starts at P2 based on P1 results. I am for it as I think it will allow the teacher to teach the students based on the class abilities.
