              Hi CNS,

from what i learnt from Tianzhu (you may like to refer to the model by Tianzhu in previous page) , for every increase in 1 bird, the difference in the nos of legs drops by 6.

                    Hi

Please have a look at the solution@ Thu Feb 02, 2012 11:28 am on page 26 of P4 Maths.

Compare these two questions and note the difference.

1)Guo Cong Min has 12 pets which consist of birds and hamsters. All the hamsters have 36 more legs than all the birds. How many of his pets are birds? (2 birds, 10 hamsters)

5)Chun Hua visited a farm where she saw some ducks and goats. There were a total of 65 ducks and goats. She then counted the legs of the animals and found that there were 196 legs. How many ducks were there in the farm?(32)

                    Best wishes

                      1. If I distribute 10 oranges to each of the children, I will be short of 30 oranges and if I distribute 8 oranges to each of them, I will be short of 6 oranges. How many oranges and children are there?

                      2. A had 6 times as much money as B at first. After both received $300 each, A has thrice as much money as B. How much did A and B have at first?

                        Hi

First question touches on Gap and Difference.

                        Gap ----- 30 - 6 ------ 24
                        Difference ------ 10 - 8 ------- 2

                        Number of children ------- 24/2 ------ 12

                        Number of oranges -------- (12*10) - 30 ------ 90 or (12*8) - 6 ------90

You can see more examples of such questions in previous posts.

                        Best wishes
