I'm told by the Indonesian Embassy that the URL to go to is http://ktkln.bnp2tki.go.id/ but it is only in Bahasa Indonesia. Alternatively, your maid can apply for the card when she is in Indonesia, I'm told it takes less than an hour to process and issue the card and it is free of charge. It can be done at the Jakarta or Surubaya airports, or at any of the 19 designated labour offices across Indonesia. The card lasts for a period of two years. Just make sure you have all the documents ready before applying for the card (i.e passport, insurance paid for, work visa issued, etc).

Hi micollh, please note that the KTKLN card application is NOT available in Singapore.
Your helper has to make it in Indonesia.
However she needs to get the working agreement which can only be drafted by the Indonesian embassy which will then have their official stamp.
She also needs to buy a worker's insurance when she applies for the card over in Indonesia.
Some other info : Heard from my helper and her other friends that in some offices in Indonesia, depending on which place she makes it, they also require their birth cert and IC, although this was not stated in the required documents that they need to bring. -
carebear… my helpder renewed her passport last year and the working agreement will end next year… if she go back this year does that meanm the KTKLN card validity will tie to her expiry of this working agreement, u know?

From what I know, as long as the KTKLN is still valid before she leaves Indonesia to come back here to work, you don't need to apply for another card.
However if she has not applied for the card before, then i think (this one i am not sure) the KTKLN card will follow the expiry of the working agreement.
The last time i tried calling and leaving emails with the embassy to no avail.
It would be better if you could go down and draft a new working agreement. They are very efficient there. -

You can go to the embassy to draft a new copy of working agreement even if you are not renewing passport.
I am unsure about validity piece as in our case, my maid's agreement has expired. We just needed the working agreement for the purpose of KTKLN. But you can explain to the officer why you are doing so. My personal feel is that it's better to have a contract that covers the entire application period to avoid any complications. -
Yes can just go to draft agreement. When I was there I saw some employers doing just that.

ok… after draft new working agreement, now left one year, maybe they will extend 2 years… i also dunno…then when she goes back, bring this agreement, she no ic, no birthcert, passport… these are enough? she is at surabaya…

The working agreement validity will in sync with the work permit.
At the embassy, you will be given list of documents for her to bring along when she makes the card.
She needs to bring 2 copies of her passport, 2 copies of work permit, original work agreement(prepared at the Indonesia embassy) and the insurance, which is purchased just before application of the card in Indonesia. Original WP and passport must be produced too.
However according to my maid the amout varies in different parts of Indonesia. Also according to my maid, some offices require their ic and birth cert, otherwise cannot.
My maid went to Yogjarkarta one and they required birth cert and ic so she wasted her time there as she did not have it with her.
So she had to make another trip to another town 5 hours away from her house. The office was in Cilacap.
Surabaya is probably more centralised so they may not require IC or BC. But this one I dunno.
The last time my miad called the office in Yogjakarta, they did not instruct her either. But maybe cos she did not specifically ask.
You may call up the office in Surabaya to enquire.
The other way is you bring her to Batam and make. -

the working agreement is not tie to work permit i think, as when i brought my maid to renew her passport last year, her work permit is not renewed yet… meaning epxiring in a month’s time and indo embassy still give us 2 years working agreement…not very sure on this part.
my maid no IC one… and no BC… so funny right…
