      Admummy:
      Urgent advice needed..

Just received my brand new piano from Cristofori...unfortunately, when I tested it one of the key is not working properly..the tune doesn't sound right when I hit it..saw the string inside for that note is a bit not straight plus the cloth flag like blocking some of the keys when hit...oh iam not piano train hope u guys understand what I mean...call the staff, she said ask senior tunner to help me tune shld be ok after that...do u think I shld take her words or demand for a new set?
As long as nothing is broken, a tuning session can fix most of the problems. Sometimes the delivery may cause some of the components inside to be dislocated.

        Is $6400 for a 1yr plus Kawai k3 a good deal?

I believe it is. Brand new costs around $11500 I think. One year piano shouldn’t have depreciated that much. Have to take a close look and make sure all things are in good condition.

If it is really 1 year+ (you better check the serial number and make sure it is not altered) and everything looks and sounds alright, then you have had a good deal. 😃

For this pricing, most likely its 3yr+.

I know the guys behind Piano Gallery and they know their stuff. And no, I am not one of them nor am I related to any of them. So far, positive feedbacks from those who did buy from Piano Gallery.

I visited them once last year and the pianoes she recommended on the spot sounded real crappy. Seemed more form over substance, as in emphasis on how one model is built to be technically better than another. Didn’t pass the ear test.

Thanks ice and reddichan. Since I stay more to the south, I not sure where to go and compare.i am also waiting for a promotion for new piano, but anyone with a mint condition exam grade piano to go will be good. Gosh I am tone deaf. Seem like buying new is the only way out

Based on your budget and preference, why don’t you take a look at Hailun HL125 at Pianomasters? It is distinctly different from most other Chinese manufactured ones. Plus there’s a 5-year buy back policy. New piano, great sound, even better price, IMHO.
