Hi peapot, you mean this thread? http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=27075
Nothing much posted here leh? And actually, i own a delphin already... but still, its the toys and cabinets... cos we dont wipe everyday now as compared to when i had my helper... no time at night to wipe his tons of cars, trucks, daily!!!
I just had my old part timer come in yday... BUT, am really disappointed w her quality of work now! My oily soup ladle wasn't washed and just placed back on the container to dry... my floor mat was washed, but 1 hung at the grille (n the opening was 10cm! how to dry?), and the other was just hung over the tap in the toilet.. 1 of the mat was replaced the other wasnt... the mirrors were not cleaned, the glass shower was still dirty... the windows, i think she didnt clean the study room's windows.. didnt check elsewhere... and we had her in for 6hrs.. shd be enuff time right??
Am looking for new part-timers just in case next week her work level is the same... If anyone here has any to share, do PM me... i will also ask this at the part-time maid thread... thanks alot! -
Hi,
Any Indians around who have employed non-Indian maids? Can I have your feedback?
I just renewed my maid’s contract in December, then she went on home leave in the same month, got married, came back totally changed. She back answers royally, accuses me all the time and later I came to know has even cursed my in-laws because they told me about her. I got fed of the weekly fights with her and terminated her last Sunday. But she took a loan of $500 from me and so has to work till mid-March to repay it.
I am now thinking of getting a non-Indian maid as I don’t want to go through all this again. Any idea what is the salary for Indonesians and Filipinos is like?
Any help with a good agency is also appreciated…
TIA… -
mng_kl, oh! you already hired her then don’t mind me asking why do you still want to contact her previous employer after 3 months?
You mention you can’t stand her behaviour. You didn’t elaborate. Is she your first maid? If you have been hiring maids before, then trust your own judgement.
Do you have these feelings like you don’t feel like coming home, don’t feel like looking at her face, you can’t trust her with the kids, thinking of "what if" I sent her off…etc then you only have 1 option. Talk to her and give yourself a timeline. 1 more month and still no change then sent her off.
Talking to her previous employer after 3 months means you want to get affirmation that the maid was behaving the same way with the previous employer and once confirm it will give you more assurance that you should get a replacement? -
Super Alice:
Any one has any good service maid agency in Katong Shopping to recommend? Or any maid agency to avoid as there are so many maid agency at Katong Shopping.
IR employment... they dnt keep their word. Their maids are recommended by maids.
i think Grand ,,,, something on the same level is not so favoured too -
My 3 previous maids and now present maid are from Homekeeper at Pasir Ris. They have other branches as well. So far I have no complaints about my maids, they are well trained before they came to work for me and don't have attitude problem.
My present one is a gem. She has just returned from her home leave and her attitude is ever so good.
She declined off days although I offerred to her.
Her aim is to earn money and send back as she is a single parent.
I recommmended this agency to my friend who chose a transfer maid as she needed one urgently but it did not turn out well for her. The maid used her phone for calls to Indonesia in the middle of the night without permission and incurred bills up to a few hundred dollars.
So I guess it is mostly based on luck.
Maid agency training is also important. -

I agree with carebear. Maid agency cannot guarantee that all their maids are good. It really depends on luck. Maybe the question should be phrased as "which maid agency to avoid?"

Hi,
I’ve got a very good helper from "Maids R Us" at Tudor Court 2 years ago. You will have to be very specific on what you’re looking for in terms of the helper’s scope of work, do-and-don’ts, etc. I spoke to Maids R us and was asked that I walked the agency through a typical schedule I have for the helper. I had a helper for 6 years from another agency and so I have a specific idea of what I want in my next helper , and drafted a schedule with specific duties to the agency so that they can find a match for me.
It all boils down to what you really want. I needed someone who is very experienced with children and housework, mature, and have good testimony from past employers (this is a must in my due diligence checklist, and I speak to their employers, and only consider those that work in the household for a long period).
I gave me current and previous maid off every Sunday and have no issues with that because I will like to tend to the children on my own on weekends, and that said, my current maid (of 2 yrs) actually offered to help me out a few hours every Sunday even though its her official day off. -

I wish I could have the affirmation from her x-employer. His reason (from maid) to her was his kids already grown up, elder one married with kids, younger one already in Poly, thus he doesnt need a helper anymore. Later she found out from other FDW working in the same estate that her x-employer employed a Myanmar helper.
I did asked my agent whether I can give him a call before having her coming over; they said no.
She is not my first maid; my 1st maid has no experience in SG but have been working in Indonesia as a house maid for 1+year. She was good, but too bad trying to play 'leave & stay' game before her contract ends after I transferred my DD to nearby CC (cuz didnt want to go MIL's place and came hm 9+ every night - tired)
Current maid: x-sg maid 4 years, trying to do less chores; you tell her she do, otherwise she act blur. Broke my things, telling lies, told her right way to sun clothes (this happened this morning) and insisted her own way. Never check whether clothes are dry, keep and folded them. Cannot iron my working clothes properly. She will tell my kids how messy the table is (DDs, 5 &2 likes to do paper cutting). Not courteous e.g. walking in and out our room as if her own room (when we are around). My x-maid will inform us before putting clothes or when she wanted to clean the room. Most recent case, (from our CCTV): on Mon, she carried my #2 DD (who woke up when I was out to fetch my elder one from tuition class at night) back to my room, climb over our bed, sit and put my DD back to bed; then lying down on our bed to talk to my DD! :frustrated: . When I reached home, I told her indirectly that my other maids will not sit/lean/lying on our bed and she answer was she doesnt too!
Beside dont feel like going home, you are right with all my negative feelings. I dont wish to bring her out with us, even to my mother's house. My mom, who seldom give comments also said 'this one no good'. She likes to listen to pple talking, even she dont understand the language e.g Teochew/Hakka
I have no heart to talk to her anymore cuz been telling/teaching her, she would juz answered 'ok' and never change. -

agree with you carebear. my passed experience... I rather go for BIG agencies that provide proper training than unpopular ones.My 3 previous maids and now present maid are from Homekeeper at Pasir Ris. They have other branches as well.
