BIG agency doesn't mean you will get quality service. From my past experience, I have better from those small agencies. The big one has too many policies and is not flexible. There is one where I don't even bother to request for a change in maid (even though I'm entitled to under the contract). I simply returned her to the agency.

i agree with you. I have a better experience with those small agency than those BIG ones.. BIG agencies may not provide quality service as they have too many maids to handle.. But small agencies may charge more as it's a one-man show.

My 3 previous maids and now present maid are from Homekeeper at Pasir Ris. They have other branches as well. So far I have no complaints about my maids, they are well trained before they came to work for me and don't have attitude problem.

My present one is a gem. She has just returned from her home leave and her attitude is ever so good.
She declined off days although I offerred to her.
Her aim is to earn money and send back as she is a single parent.

I recommmended this agency to my friend who chose a transfer maid as she needed one urgently but it did not turn out well for her. The maid used her phone for calls to Indonesia in the middle of the night without permission and incurred bills up to a few hundred dollars.

So I guess it is mostly based on luck.
Maid agency training is also important.

i guess it all depend on the staff at the branches.. i have got 1 maid from Homekeeper @ Hougang Green previously.. the staff there super unfriendly...

I agree it depends on who is serving you. But the BIG agencies in general are not flexible. You may end up paying a bit more at the smaller agency but at least, I feel that the service provided is much better.


For example, when I return the maid because she doesn’t work anymore (she wants to return home). The maid agency "forced" her to continue working as she still owes them money. At our end, we also want to send her home because in order to get home, she made certain accusation. It is only when we asked her to make a police report then she admitted she was lying. We relate the story to the agency and they told us that they will transfer the maid (even though she herself wanted to go back). We disagree and said that she should be sent back.

Under the contract which we signed (not sure if it is a standard contract), if we insist in sending her back, we would have to bear the cost of her loan as they have no way of recovering that money. Also, while waiting to transfer her, we have to continue paying her levy plus cost of food and accomodation (calculated on daily basis). After discussing with DW, we decided to send her back. We ended the LOSER as we were unable to recover the balance of the $3200 paid to the agent. We were so fed up we rejected the chance to get a replacement maid. This was also partly that they want us to pick from the transfer maid. If we want new maid, we have to pay a "admin charge" on top of having to wait for a few weeks for them to find one. We tried to talk to the boss of the agency regarding our displeasure but he was always not in or busy. I think he was trying to avoid talking to us. Throughout the whole thing, we never raised our voice, talked to them in a polite and civlised manner. However, when they gave us those standard reply, we could sense that they were being sarcastic and impatience. They even sided with the maid initially when she made the accusation.

Our experience with the smaller agencies (usually have only one or two shops) were better. I won’t say they are excellent but at least they are willing to listen and make the exception for us in some of their "policies".

[/quote]For all my maid at Pasir Ris I went through a super friendly agent by the name of Shufen who has been very helpful.
She is very dedicated to her job.
I agree with you that it depends on the staff, cos when I called the bukit timah branch, there was an unfriendly staff there.

I encountered the similar case with my current 'small' agent. They may 'look' flexible/friendly to you - many have hidden agenda de. Those BIG agents in Bt. Timah either unfriendly or desperate for money. I went to one BIG agent in HG Green and gotten my 1st maid and we were v satified.

Whichever agent/FDW we select, it all depends our luck :xedfingers: ba

can give a trust manpower a try, I used them some years back. Dont know whether they are the same today but they do orientate their maids

The reason that a lot of employers prefer to transfer the maid is because the maid still has outstanding loan. Unless the employer don't mind forfeiting whatever they have paid upfront, there's not much of a choice. In addition still have to pay her air ticket.
