Hi parents, happened to see this thread and see that mummies are wondering how to use zi bao bao.

      something to share with you.

you can make a fishing rod using a string attached with a magnet.
put paper clips on each card
then let your kids use the string that comes with magnet to attract the card (paper clip part).

You can be the teacher by reading the words out for him to "fish".

      It is quite fun!

I did that in school with my pupils .

btw, HCL chinese text from P1-P4 are actually about the same as CL Text, the only difference is that HCL for P1-P4 are of more words.

The child is only required to take the "real" HCL at p5. Therefore, results is important at P4 for the school to see if he will go to HCL class in P5 and continue to P6.
those who cant go to HCL class will study standard CL text or foundation text.
      hope my explanations are clear

Hi folks, for Primary 2 SA2, what will the HMT ‘Social Studies’ paper comprise of? Anything to mug and prepare for, or is it based on general language proficiency and nothing to study for?

        TIA!

My girl is selected to study higher Chinese nest year P2 as she got quite high for her P1 Chinese. However, I'm not very sure of what they will be learning for higher Chinese as compared to the normal Chinese. Could someone advise of this? Will it be a lot more difficult for Higher Chinese as compared to the normal one? If possible, could someone point me to some resources where I can download some Higher Chinese tests/worksheets?

I'm quite worried that she will not be able to cope with it.
If you compare the higher Chinese textbook & the normal Chinese textbook, there is not much different. Since she got high mark for her chinese & then she will be fine.

I think whether all the words in the zi bao bao are used depends on the teacher. These cards are meant to supplement their current textbook and may not necessarily be used (if at all). But if you can teach, why not? Actually many schools have already started higher chinese in P1 and the difference between HMT and normal chinese is not really that huge for lower primary, just additional words to be learned. IMO, the major difference comes in P5.

                  Hi Sakura_2009,
DS MT Sir didnt really hardly use zi bao bao in P1. Always behind schedule for Chinese spelling. Now DS is offer HMT in P2. Does your kind has HMT? What assement book will you recommen?

Not all schools use zi bao bao. Popular has a lot of higher Chinese assessment books.

                    高级华文必须要打好基础,因为只要字词基础打好,在做高级华文的时候不会吃力,其实难度并不大,不过是比普通华文考的细。

I think it's good for your girl to study higher Chinese because some of the top sec school like Nanyang girls sec, CHIJ St Nicholas Girls' Sec need the Higher Chinese result when PSLE.
It's not very difficult for kids to study higher Chinese in lower primary. 识读字 are almost same, but there are more识写字 in higher Chinese than in normal Chinese. Teach your kids Chinese characters as many as possible, this is very important!

Oh mine! so many things to learn!
                      Thanks for the advise. Cheers!

It is not necessary to use higher chinese results for top Sec schools. However, it is compulsory to do higher chinese if your child is in IP. Your can also used the higher chinese points (max 3 points) to apply for SAP schools, which includes some top schools.

This year my DS has a very strict Chinese Teacher (who is the senior) in the school. He is very strict in his marking too. My DS is one of the good in Chinese and has interest and confident in this subject too. But due to the teacher, he starts to make lot of mistake and scare to attend his class. I only realize his problem in Term 2. May I know what can I do to boost up his confidence again in this subject? Really helpless as I scare he lost his interest totally.
