For P1, I used that 习字本 to get her to practise...but this year, she is having slightly longer stuff. Can't use the P2 book :moneyflies: kinda wasted bcos a lot of 字 can't be found inside. So I'm using the big square exercise book.

Can start to use medium square exercise book because P3 most school will change to medium square.

              Hi Janet,

              For sharing...
P2 - learn on his own and test him in the next 10 mins or so. Most of the time, he will either get them right or with minimum mistakes. No sweat

P5 - do 抄写 a few times before he can remember. He can still get mistakes. :frustrated:
repeat until he gets 80% right and I will leave him alone to deal with the actual 听写。

I guess there is no one method that works but we will have to improvise based on the kid's flair with the language.

                Hi Mummies,

Can I check with you what kind of 听写 your kids have ? How do you coach your kids in their spelling ?
for my now P4, in P1 and P2, i left it to him to practice writing/scribbling on rough paper. then i'll test him. then i'll do a retest on everything (since he'll usually get wrong somewhere; or even if he gets all correct first round, second round, he'll somehow forget how to write some words :slapshead: ). from p3 onwards, he do the prac and test and retest by himself. he managed to maintain above 80%, so i close 1 eye. i only help test him on the sentence (not moxie).
but i will drill him again on the list of words during exam prep...that is what matters. 😓

                  Thanks for sharing ladies.
I have left my son to learn by himself...hubby will test him when he is done...for both Eng & CL spelling and dictation.
My daughter will 抄写 3x and then I will test her. If she can get 80% for both Eng/CL, I close my eyes.

                    Hi Janet,
For my P4 DD1, I have left her to learn the 听写 on her own and will only test her the nite before 😄 ..Problem is with P1 DD2 :skeptical: She is very weak with 汉语拼音 and the 1st term 6 sets of spelling list weekly is all about 汉语拼音  :lightrod:

There are 10 words every Tues to be tested and the weekends are always burnt to teach her the 汉语拼音听写 :gloomy: Also, using the following as a guide to revise with her:-
