Vlim, is your DS assigned his 1st choice CCA? If yes, you can plan 'leem' kopi sessions with MummyStay, once or twice a week, so nice πŸ™‚

How about Paddy, Ms Tay.. and other RI parents? Hopefully your DSs have been given their choice CCAs today!

VSk, does your boy like Boys' Brigade? Or he is planning to appeal to a Sports CCA?

My DS got into RV (Choir), his 1st choice CCA.. Yeah!!!
:congrats: to your ds, firefly, for getting into the CCA of his first choice.

Ds said he's ok with BB, though he prefers sports. DH advised him to stick on with it as he said BB's activities such as community services can help him next time to apply for scholarship - as he has rendered his services to community. Not sure if it's true.

My ds also got selected during the judo trial but did not get allocated there he put judo as his 1st choice but He got his 2nd choice , squash .
However, he loves martial art very much n he wants to get in the judo Cca so badly.. He had learnt karate for abt 2yrs but for squash he has totally no experience ... Does anyone know Wat r his chance ? Pls advice , greatly appreciate ! ( he has submitted his appeal letter this morning ) I really hope he could get the Cca he likes as it will stay wif him for 4yrs ...

Hi Ms Tay - hope your ds' appeal gets through. Maybe with the mention of karate he learned for 2 years will help him stand a chance. πŸ™‚

Ds has decided to stay on with BB. A lot of events, I find - next weekend got to go kayaking course, then march hols got to attend 3 days camp. Aiyo, wonder where he is going to find time to study.

How about other CCAs? May I know for sports - do they have many events too?

Hi vsk , scout is a very exciting Cca , they hv many events n outdoor activities.
I believe tt ur ds will enjoy it n hv a lot of fun !!! πŸ•Ί

            Paddy Field:
my DS got in to red cross - his 6th choice.

During water polo trial, he was selected but did not get allocated there even tho he put it as his 2nd choice. Furthermore he has had a year + of water polo training.
Should we appeal?? Any ε‰θΎˆ can advise what r e chances of appeal??
            PaddyField,
you should go ahead and appeal, especially if yr DS interest is in waterpolo and he has experience. It is a good CCA choice. My DS also put it first choice last year, but he was not as good as the others unfortunately.

vsk, I thot yr DS is good in running ? imho, he shld try appeal to Track & Field again, if he is good in that.

My DS was given Track & Field last year, despite it being his 3rd or 4th choice, as they said he was good in running.

He eventually appealed by going to the teacher in charge of his preferred Sports, and was transferred about 1-2 months later.

Kayaking is fun, they will enjoy it. And yes, most sports have activities, tournaments and events, but this is a good balance to the boys' studies, imo. I feel that the sports CCA ( and UGs ) actually help the boys destress from their studies. πŸ˜„

My DS submitted e appeal form today. Will he be assigned an appeal session or does he go to any of these sessions?

Ds' CCA is Boys Brigade, but u're right - it's something like scout. I know he'll have fun. But have to remind him to manage his time well- not to neglect his studies.

Actually, in Primary school, his CCA was robotics. Running was only the annual sports event that's held in school. He represented his school in robotics competition but unfortunately, RI doesnt offer robotics as Core CCA. He doesn't want to take robotics on top of a Core CCA.

So he'll stayput in BB. Anyway, after hearing about the fun activities in BB, he looks forward to it.

Only Sports & UGs can help the boys to de-stress? What about singing? πŸ˜‰

Not only Sports & UGs are 'heavy' CCAs, here's RV's practice schedules:
                      Wed: 3.30pm - 7pm.
                      Sat: 8.30am - 1pm.

Actually, teacher-in-charge of Guitar told DS he would get Guitar if he put Guitar as 1st choice (wa, like DSA!), but DS put RV as 1st choice and Guitar as 2nd choice, as he prefers RV (RV teacher-in-charge also told DS the same thing, as Guitar teacher-in-charge).

Vsk & Paddy, you all are right.. With 3rd Language every Tuesday, where to find time to study, not to mention.. relax??!! πŸ˜“
