My personal opinion.....MGS is a very holistic school. Other than academic execellence, the school is very concern with character development as well. My P1 dd came back after first week of school quoting her teacher saying\" My teacher says we must be kind to people and our friends.....\" Quoted from their school website: \"The school motto, `To Master, To Grow, To Serve’ sums up the school philosophy. Emphasis is placed on the mastery of what is important in life, such as intellectual, physical and social skills; the focus is on the development of morally upright, and spiritually and emotionally mature persons who are well-adjusted individuals who dedicate their life in service to the community, the nation and the world.\" The school is working hard to bring up the girls in the \"MGS\" ways

For P1, no exam and no homework, tasks are completed in school except once a week English spelling & 听写。When I compare my neighbour's dd (MGS) and my ds (boy school) who are both in P5, my son is definitely more stress out with loads of homework & supplementary classes in school! Hence I'm also amaze how did MGS achieve such good result in PSLE :rahrah:

I believe that alot of the girls take up CCA from P1 onwards, with some having 2~3 by P3!!!!


Be do be cautious coz some CCA cost $$$$.

MGS is a very holistic school. P1 is not stressful as the girls are given time to settle in. The topical tests each term are also straightforward.


The difficulty in the tests increases from P2 SA2 due to streaming - especially for Maths and English. Hence, the girls need to be exposed to higher order thinking questions for Maths. Success in English really differs in each child as it depends on their reading ability. The girls may need more exposure to tackling challenging comprehension and cloze passages.

It is good to note that the quality of results have improved over the years. However, credit should also go to parents and tutors who bridge the gap by exposing their girls to challenging questions. It is strange that the girls are asked whether they have enrichment classes or tuition each year by their teachers. Amusingly, the next question is "How many of you go to Learning Lab?"!
