All About Full-Time Maids

I think this insurance is stated on the Philippines Embassy website.
It’s a $7000 insurance required by them when processing the letter of authentication. I supposed to cover the maid should anything happens to her during the period of homeleave.
This can be purchased from any of the insurance company, but so far, I think INCOME is the cheapest around (price can just check INCOME website). Just go to the insurance company with all the necessary documents (passport,WP) and you can get it on the spot.
With this insurance, just bring over to the embassy to process the contract/letter of authentication, and make another trip to collect the letter and purchase the exit permit.
Anyway, for info, a contract (same copy for homeleave) is needed should your maid need to renew her passport in SG. Documents required are almost the same as processing for homeleave. So, if you are doing both together, you save some money. -
agree with smurfy,but even if this agent does not wish to send, can always pay other agents to do it, normally the agent make money when u get them to buy the tickets and transportation, besides they are going to airport nearly everyday so should be no issue. i just paid anothr agent 60 bucks to send my maid off instead of using similar agent.
My cunning maid mi mi wanted desperately to stay in spore cos she knew i wont tansfer her, hah!! tried to sabo me too. -
simply said, they dun deserved a chance to be transferred out to exploit another family… better send them flying tickets home.
maids are always maids, never a helper. if they are called helper, we wouldn’t have so much problems. -

The maid has been with them for about 3yrs already…main role is to take care of my relative’s fil who is on wheel chair…after her second year with them, they decided to renew her and did all the paperwork themselves (not gg through agent)…recently, this maid theirs "sneaked out" while they were overseas (they left their fil and the maid in Singapore) and got herself a better paying employer through another maid agency…when my relative returned, the maid drop the bomb and told them that she no longer want to work for them anymore…my relative was asked to sign a "transfer form"…they ask me whether should they sign the form…what are your views? any recourse that my relative can take (i dun think they can find the original agency right since the initial 2yrs contract has expired and the renewal was done by themselves)? or this maid can just "walk-out" like this? -

Haha that’s true. Also do you know if do 10 good things to the maid they can never remember but if you scold them only 1 time, they remember for life!!! -

It doesn't matter if the maid has found a new employer. The prerogative to transfer still lies with your relative. If the new employer really wants to hire her they can apply for a work permit after she goes home and bring her back out again. That's their problem. Not your relative's. -

actually what is the purpose of signing that form...my relative very angry to be betrayed by her but they cannot stop her from leaving right....how to send her back if she wanna stay, how to enforce it? the maid does not has any outstanding loan already....actually before she drop the bomb, she has negotiated with my relative for a big increase of her pay, my relative could not accede to her request so she said she got another job... her sudden move caused a lot of inconvenience to my relative... really very bad irresponsible maid.....:mad: -

It's an MOM requirement. If your maid no longer wants to work for you, you can either:

1) Cancel her work permit and send her home; or
2) Allow her to transfer to another employer. She can only do a transfer if the first employer signs a transfer form issued by MOM.
Basically, your relative decides on whether her maid gets to stay in Singapore or go back to her home country. If your relative is that unhappy with her maid, send her home. Cancel her work permit, buy an air ticket, send her to the airport. The End. -
When a contract is renewed between the employer and the maid for 2 years, the party who initiated the termination should be responsible for paying for the air ticket of the maid. Thus, since the maid is the one who did not fulfill the 2 year period, she should bear the cost of either the air ticket (if employer wants to send her home) or the transfer to another employer.
If the employer wants to terminate the contract before the 2 year period, employer should pay for the air ticket, to be fair.
Thus, if the employer feels betrayed/angry with the termination, he could choose to send her home and let her pay for her own air ticket if she wants to come back her to work. Employer is NOT obliged to agree to the transfer.
