December Born Kids
-
I have a dec born child too. Quite worried whether he will be in par with his classmates in P1.
-
Me too…teachers say she slower than the rest…but slow in one area doesnt mean slow in all areas…so i just dun want to stress her.
but its worrying nevertheless. -

My ds is 3 years and I am worried too. But I am trying to be prepared for teachers to mention that they are slow or whatever. Afterall they are dec kids. They just need our support.Me too...teachers say she slower than the rest..but slow in one area doesnt mean slow in all areas..so i just dun want to stress her.

I understand that worry completely. My daughter is end Nov...she is a slow learner and requires constant reminder to keep up. She is in P2 this year, but mentally she is only 7...yet she has to learn what is taught at P2 level. What I can do is revise with her everyday in the hope that something is refreshed in her mind.Me too...teachers say she slower than the rest..but slow in one area doesnt mean slow in all areas..so i just dun want to stress her.

Yeah i agree…rite now shes in k2…but mentally shes more like a k1 kid…but somehow i still feel shes alrite…i wonder…why must they know EVERYTHING before going to p1?? haiz…everything is accelerated learning…why cant kids just learn the basics at p1 like years ago…now you must know more than basics come january at p1 level…its so worrying and frustrating at the same time…the joy of learning is just not there anymore!!!

Joy of learning ? What is that ? :stupid:
My daughter was given crazy and incredibly tough 听写 in her kindy back then. Don't get me wrong, I am all for having 听写 in K2...but the characters given must be reasonable. Thank goodness she is done with kindergarten.
Many schools go easy at P1...so there is no such thing as continual assessments or semestral assessments 1/2 (aka mid-year/final year exams). -
true…however they do have bite sized assessments…n such…and at the end of the day…when they hit p3…there are exams…starting from ca!!! so madness at the end of the day!!!

Madness doesn't start in P3...that's too late to start any coaching.
Those assessments are similar to CAs...10%. Tests in May carry 30%.
Summative tests are just another name. Most schools have STREAMING at the end of P2. This determines the class the kids are streamed into for P3. In P3, kids have Science and a deeper level of subjects to handle.
